THE CROWD CAN NOT STOP YOU

Memory Verse:
Mark 10:49

MESSAGE:
The attempts by the crowd to intimidate Bartimaeus to silence, gravitationally provoked him the more to be heard. The crowd around us can be very intimidating unless we choose to ignore their unsympathetic and hostile gimmick voices. We don’t have to put our theology first before He hears us. The major thing is to identify Jesus and exercise faith in Him. According to Eddie Gibbs, ” It is in relationship with Him and in company with the community of His followers that our beliefs get straightened out!”

It is significant that Jesus initially addressed the crowd, ordering them to call him. His stoppers became his helpers enabling him to go to the Master. In answer to Jesus’ question, Bartimaeus went straight to the point: Rabbi, I want to see,” Jesus knows his problem but wants the blind man to state it, just as He does us. Bartimaeus sight was restored fully, and he became known to the Jerusalem church as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Refuse bad company, fellow church members, friends, challenges from family members, and ministry, etc., from stopping you. Reach out to Christ for your long awaited miracle. Nothing shall stop you. Amen.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Your desperation should not be driven by demand but by faith.

PRAYER:
O Lord, distinguish me from the crowd in Jesus’ name.

PRAY ABOUT IT

Double Destiny Global Outreach

Monday 17 June, 2019

Text:
Psalm 35:1-2

TOPIC:
PRAY ABOUT IT

Memory Verse:
1 Peter 5:7

MESSAGE:
What is prayer? Prayer is a channel employed by believers to communicate with God. It is an acceptance or recognition of a need that requires superior power or assistance to handle. It should be the first and only resort when one is at the crossroads.

Prayer is admission that there are things or situations we cannot resolve by ourselves. It is the premise of the belief that there are challenges we cannot share with enemies. In this situation, the petitioner consider himself helpless and appeals to the supreme Being for deliverance and help.

Are you in a difficult situation now? Are too many forces, physical and spiritual, currently fighting you? Is your marriage delayed or crashing? Is sickness ravaging your home? Are your finances, business and sources of income, etc, closing down? Pray! Pray! Pray!

Take all your burdens to Jehovah, He knows what to do. Jesus cares about you. He can deliver you. Stop complaining and trying to fight back or defend yourself. You cannot save or help yourself. Pray about them all.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Take your entire burden to Jehovah in prayer He knows what to do.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to always take all my burdens to You in prayer and not to complain, fight or attempt to rely on my flesh.

CRIES FROM THE HEART

Double Destiny Global Outreach wishes you a Happy Fathers Day Celebration
Sunday 16 June, 2019

Text:
Mark 10:46-52

TOPIC:
CRIES FROM THE HEART

Memory Verse:
Mark 10:48

MESSAGE:
Jesus had reached the last stage of His long journey from Caesarea Philippi to Jerusalem. He was now just 15miles to His destination. Passover was but a few days away, when His ‘hour’ would come; His appointment with destiny, when His work on earth would reach it’s earthshaking climax. Jericho at that time was a setting mass of humanity.

There were the pilgrims who were going to this greatest of the annual festivals. Among them were thousands of priests preparing to make their journey to serve in the temple. As some recognized Jesus approaching, the noise of in the crowd alerted the blind man that then was his opportunity. Hence, he decided to seize the moment. He vowed not to miss his chance, so he cried out in order to be heard over the hustle and bustle of the crowd around him. Finally, he had to attract Jesus’ attention. He needed not to have worried, for Jesus always hears cried from the heart. Not only was he (Bartimaeus) delivered from the physical darkness, but the spiritual, too.

Are you facing any depressing situation? Is life proving tough for you? You can experience a turn around by crying out to Jesus. Do not let anyone stop you from crying out so desperately until you capture the attention of the Lord Jesus. Be assured that He hears cries from broken hearts and will meet you at the point of your needs like He did blind Bartimaeus.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
God does not overlook cries from broken and contrite hearts.

PRAYER:
Lord, hear my humble cry and restore my whole being again.

GOD WILL PROSPER YOU

Double Destiny Global Outreach
Saturday 15 June, 2019

Text:
Genesis 22:12-18

TOPIC:
GOD WILL PROSPER YOU

Memory Verse:
3 John 1:2

MESSAGE:
The word ‘prosper’ according to English Dictionary is to be successful, to succeed, to be fortunate or prosperous, to thrive, and to make gain, to grow and increase. God has all of the above in mind towards us in the above Scripture. It is His will that we lack nothing; but live in plenty.

Even as the Psalmist says, “They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shall make them drink of the river of thy pleasures” (Ps. 36:5). God has also said, “No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly” (PS. 84:11). Paul added that “God has given us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Tim. 6:17).

But remember, He blesses the works of our hands. Your business, career, ministry, etc., is a channel God can use to prosper you. God hates idleness and crooked ways. Find something to do and then commit thy ways unto Him. Trust your ways unto the Lord, and He shall direct them (Prov. 3:5-6), and altogether bless and prosper you.

Meanwhile, we need to ask, “Lord, what is the test I need to pass or the sacrifice I need to make in order to be qualified for Your avowed blessings?” When Abraham passed his own test, God made a covenant to bless him.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
God has a prosperity agenda for us but we must be prepared to take it.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to meet all the requirements for divine prosperity.

DON’T DRIFT AWAY

  • Double Destiny Global Outreach

Text:
Luke 17:26-30; Colossians 3:1-6

TOPIC:
DON’T DRIFT AWAY

Memory Verse:
Colossians 3:2

MESSAGE:
There was nothing wrong with the eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage in Noah’s days except that the people had become totally preoccupied with these activities to the neglect of the spiritual dimension of life. There was also nothing wrong with the buying, selling, planning and building in Lot’s days except that they were carried out by sinful methods.

What seems to have been fundamentally wrong in the days of Noah and Lot was that men made these the sole interests of their lives. They thought of nothing but the personal pleasures, property and material profits they were getting. They were so much absorbed in the things of this world that they had no time for God. It displeased God and He brought judgement upon them.

Brethren, people tell from emphasis we attach to things whether we have set our affections on things above or we are primarily attached to this world? We are not supposed to be carried away by the craze for riches, social demands and daily anxieties. We must not forget the fact that Jesus is coming again.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Our love for God and His kingdom should make us more heavenly conscious.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to live daily in the consciousness of Your second coming.

THE CURE FOR WORRY

Thursday 13 June, 2019

Text:
John 14:1-4

TOPIC:
THE CURE FOR WORRY

Memory Verse:
John 14:1

MESSAGE:
Toward the end of 1943, President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Joseph Stalin were scheduled to meet in Tehran, Iran, to discuss strategy in the water against Germany. As the three Leaders prepared for the trip, made even more dangerous by the ongoing war, Roosevelt wrote to Churchill and expressed some concern over the meeting location. He feared that Tehran was in range of German bombers and they could be subject to attack. Churchill sent back this message: “See St. John chapter 14, Verses 1 to 4.”

Those nine words and the truth of the Verses Churchill referenced, contain the cure for worry in any situation of life. Our faith is not that nothing will ever go wrong. Jesus spoke these words just hour before He was put to death on the cross; but He assured that God is in control and our eternal destiny is secure in Him. The more we believe in God, the less we worry. Troubled hearts reveal that we are not trusting Him as we should.

The reminder that Jesus gave to His disciples just before the crucifixion was that there is more than this world in our future. The burdens and troubles and trial of life are real but they are temporary. And the God who sees us through them has an eternity prepared for us. Nothing that anyone or anything in this world can do will change that. It is settled and secure according to the unfailing promise of Almighty God. Stop those worries now and hold on to God’s solution to worries – the Scriptures.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The Word of God is the solution for worry.

PRAYER:
Oh Lord, remind me to always search the Scriptures in times of worry.

WHEN LEADERS LEAD

Wednesday 12 June, 2019

Text:
Judges 5:1-4

TOPIC:
WHEN LEADERS LEAD

Memory Verse:
Psalm 78:72

MESSAGE:
Leadership is a trust and call to responsibility. The task is about going the way and showing the way. It is the Job of being in the front and showing by example how to live the good life, achieve purpose and fulfil destiny. Being a leader is not a title, rather a mantle. It involves making every effort one can in order to leave a people or an organisation better than you met them.

And as it is usually the case, it requires sacrifices, vision, courage, team spirit and moral rectitude. Our text reveals that when a person is trusted with leadership assignment and he or she does it well, people willingly offer their best in support.

So when people are disgruntled, depressed and unwilling to support leadership, a question usually arises: is the leader really leading well? Leading is not same as lording. It is not the imposition of one’s whims and caprices. It is not forceful domination.

Fortunately, almost everybody is a leader in one way or the other. When we do our leadership job at whatever capacity we find ourselves the continuum extends to the entire society and life gets better. Are you a parent, senior sibling, class monitor, school prefect, teacher, civil or public servant or someone assigned to any position of responsibility, please do your job well. As we join the rest of Nigerians to mark this year’s Democracy Day, may we attempt to be distinguished as leaders who lead well!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Good leaders generate great followers.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to be a good leader.

A Lost Opportunity

Monday 11 June, 2019

Text:
Luke 23:39-44

TOPIC:
A LOST OPPORTUNITY

Memory Verse:
HEB.3:15

MESSAGE:
Jesus, the Word of God, remains infallible from generation to generation and cannot be thwarted. He is so merciful yet cannot condone evil irrespective of who commits it. The only remedy is repentance. Anyone that repents, gets instant forgiveness and acceptance. When one repents from one’s evil ways, Jesus washes away one’s sins with His precious blood and then accepts one into the family of the sanits. But, when a person hardens his/her heart and continues in sin. He/she is already condemned.

A story was told of a sick old man that saw hell fire while he was still alive. He started shouting fire, fire, but the only person around him did not understand the message. God showed him hell to give him the opportunity to accept Christ and escape hell fire but there was no one to help him. He lost that last opportunity and died a few days after. The second thief in our text today lost his last opportunity to escape hell fire. Instead of being sorry for his sins, he mocked the saviour of his Soul. The first, thief recongnising and being sorry for his sins, entered into eternal rest with the Master.

What are you doing with the opportunity before you now? Would you grab it and settle it with your maker? It may be your attitude, unforgiveness, pride, lying, lack of respect for superiors, grossip, bitterness, anger etc. Whatever yours is, settle it right here and now. Tomorrow may never come! The sick old man lacked someone to help him but you have ample opportunity before you now. Don’t let it slip away.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Grab this opportunity; don’t lose it.

PRAYER:
May I always grab the opportunity to say ” I am sorry’ whenever I err in Jesus’ name.

Did you know that CHRIST is a good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.—John 10:11

Thoughts of the Day:
The Bible uses the term “shepherd” for all kinds of good leaders. But only One is the quintessential Shepherd. He shows us that the heart of godly leadership is sacrifice not status, service not selfishness. We follow this Shepherd because we know he values us above his own life.
PRAYER:.
Holy and sacrificial Father, I am humbled to silence by your plan to have Jesus be both Lord and Lamb, Shepherd and Sacrifice. Thank you for giving me life by his death and leadership by his example. I offer you my undying thanks in Jesus’ name. Amen.
