Text:
1 Thessalonians 4:1-12

Topic:
ARE YOU LIVING TO PLEASE GOD❓

Memory verse:
“We ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how you must live and please God…..that you do so more and more” (1Thess.4:1)

Message:
Many people live as though the world started with them and will eventually be concluded by their own terms. They think very little about God and His ways and more about self and things thereto.
Every time you look down on others or deny them of their rights and privileges, you are no better than Pharaoh and his taskmasters. The painful reality is that when you hold down a person, you are holding yourself. The fact that we profess Christianity makes it contradictory; for Christ liberates, self-enslaves. Slavery continues to take place in our homes today under the guise of house-helps, apprentices and the likes. In every generation, God is ever looking for a man who will stand in the gap so that others could be assisted. Whenever He finds any, God is pleased in no small measure. For such ones are helping to answer somebody’s prayer. The Bible says, a liberal soul shall be made fat and he that waters shall be watered also. We are the instruments God uses for His work if we make ourselves available. If a person is not forthcoming, God scouts for a replacement.

Samuel replaced Eli’s family.
Saul replaced Samuel’s family.
David replaced Saul’s family.
God concluded that those who honour Him, He will honour and those who despise Him, will be treated as nothing. For, “in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind” (John 12:10). When a bird is alive it eats ants but when a bird dies ants eats it. Time and circumstances can change at any period. Try as much as you can never to devalue or hurt anyone in life.
You may be powerful today but remember, time is more powerful than you!
In 1985, Dasuki arrested Buhari when Babangida upturned the government through palace coup. By 2015, Buhari arrested Dasuki, when he came back to power as a civilian President. (just within 30years interval)
Be an imitator of God; don’t destroy. For God is a builder not a destroyer. Build someone today and you will be pleasing God.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
When you help someone, you have become the extension of God’s hand to the person.

PRAYER:
God grant me the grace to assist somebody today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR:
Ezekiel 20-21; John 12:27-50
