TOPIC:
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE OF YOUR FAMILY LOVE/CONFLICT❓ -2-

KEY VERSE:*
“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” (James 4:1, NIV).

TODAY’S TEXT*
EPHESIANS 6:1-4, COLOSSIANS 3:20-21

MESSAGE*

Our concern today is the fact that there is crises in many homes because the
children are discouraged and embittered. Some of our children are discouraged
because many of us have failed to be worthy examples of Christian life and
conduct. As a matter of fact many of them go through a lot of mental trauma trying to reconcile the truth we share from the scriptures and our daily lifestyles which happens to prove the opposite of the faith we profess.

It is also worrisome that in many homes, children are left to fend for themselves. Their basic needs are not provided for and yet the parents preach
moral rectitude. Another crises point is where parents care more for their
profession, jobs, career dreams and ministries and have no time for their
children. At times you wonder, why there is no marked difference in the moral
responses between the children from our homes and that of unbelieving
parents because we have abdicated the primary responsibility of biblical and spiritual training of our children to the school and Sunday school teachers.

Without mincing words, it has to be made clear here that the very core of
Christian nurture is this: the heart of the father must be turned to the heart of
the child in order that to bring the heart of the child to the heart of the Saviour
(Luke 1:17).

Someone has asked very lately, why are some of our children leaving our
church? What will become of our Pentecostal heritage if our children’s hearts
are elsewhere? May today’s lesson mark a reconciliation between parents and
their children. Let apologies be made and forgiveness sought and offered. Real
and absolute peace shall reign in our homes in Jesus name, Shalom!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS*

Couples should understand and co-operate together to make their home peaceful.

PRAYER*

I pray that conflict and crisis should be far away from my family. Amen.
