ARE YOU STILL IN THAT LITTLE ACT❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 17 December 2019

Text : 2 Kings 4: 38-41

Topic : ARE YOU STILL IN THAT LITTLE ACT❓

Memory verse
2 Kings 4:40

Message:
The songs of the Prophets at Gilgal were entertaining their master, the great Prophet, Elisah. But it was in a time of drought and famine, food was scarce. As they gathered the vegetables they could find and put them in the common pot for a meal of soup, one of them had brought a vine laden with gourds which they unknowingly shredded into boiling pot of soup. When   the food was done and they tried to eat it, it turned to be poisonous.

One ingredient spoilt the whole meal. All the other ingredients were excellent but just one ingredient made the rest unpalatable and poisonous. How many Christians are hindered and limited in their testimony by just one act of worldliness? What is that in your life, which you know is the death in the pot? Often times, people will overlook all your virtues and judge you by just one work of the flesh or one pet sin which you have not given up?

What is that one wild vine that the enemy is capitalizing on in order to rubbish your Christian testimony? Now, your chance is, to confess it, so that it could be dealt with ; so that all your religious effort will not be a waste.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
One spot spoils the immaculate.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to take care of those little things that could tarnish my Christian image.

WHERE IS YOUR PASSION FOR GOD❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 16 December 2019

Text:
Genesis 18 : 1-8

TOPIC: WHERE IS YOUR PASSION FOR GOD❓

Memory Verse :
Genesis 18:2

Message :

When father Abraham saw the three men standing in front of his house, he ran to meet them. A very interesting factor that is worth our consideration is that the men were close to him and yet he ran to meet them. Why run to meet someone close? Passion!

Beloved, how you go to God sometimes determines how He comes to you. The Bible says, *” Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you” (James 4:8).* Your passion towards God is a magnet.

The strength of your passion towards God determines the speed with which He responds to your quest to see Him. How do you go to God ? Abraham’s approach shows that of urgency and seriousness. He ran towards God.

When was the last time you attended church service on time and ahead of others? Have you become familiar with God and became complacent about His presence ? What is your current disposition when it has to do with God and the things of God?

Those who run towards God are those the devil, his demons and afflictions run away from. Those who pant after God have men pant after them in all their endeavours. God rubs off on those who run after Him.

God had scheduled that visit to Abraham’s house. Abraham saw them and ran towards them. Don’t rest on the promises you have received. Run towards God with them. He will bring them to pass.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
WHERE IS YOUR PASSION FOR GOD

PRAYER
Lord, You are my God, early will I seek You.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR :
Joshua 16 – 18; Luke 17 : 20-37.

“WHO” DO YOU TRUST❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Sunday 15 December 2019.

Text:
Isaiah 36:1-12

TOPIC:
“WHO”DO YOU TRUST❓

Memory Verse:
Isaiah 36:5

Message:
Some of the circumstances that confront us in life is designed to determine where our trust and confidence are. As you will notice from our text, Rabshakeh was sent by his master, the king of Assyria, to challenge the people of Judah and dissuade them from trusting the LORD for their deliverance. He wanted them to submit to him with tributes and total allegiance but thank God for King Hezekiah who knew God and what He is capable of doing. Rather than cower under the threats of the enemy, he lead his people to seek God’s mercy and intervention. And his expression of trust and confidence in the LORD brought them complete deliverance.

It is possible that something or someone is standing like Rabshakeh threatening your peace and confidence in God. Situations and circumstances may be asking you: ‘Now in whom is your trust? ‘ Do not be hesitant; boldly declare that your trust is in the Lord who neither sleep nor slumber;  declare that  your trust is in Jesus Christ.

The Christian of the Nicene era responding to the question, “On whom dost thou trust? ” Replied, “I trust in a triune God. I trust the father, believing that He has chosen me from before the foundations of the world; I trust Him to  provide for me in Providence, to teach me, to guide me, to correct me if need be, and to bring me home to His own house where the many mansions are. I trust the son. Very God of very God is He – the man Christ Jesus. I trust in Him to take away all my sins by His own sacrifice, and to adorn me with His perfect righteousness. I trust Him to be my intercessor, to present my prayers and desire before His father’s throne, and I trust Him to be my advocate at the last great day, to plead my cause, and to justify me. I trust Him for what He has done, and for what He has promised yet to do. And I trust the Holy Spirit – He has begun to save me from my inbred sins; I trust Him to drive them all out; I trust Him to curb my  temper, to subdue my will, to enlighten my understanding, to check my passions, to comfort my despondency, to help my weakness, to illuminate my darkness; I trust Him to dwell in me as my life, to reign in me as my king, to sanctify me wholly, spirit, soul, and body, and then to take me up to dwell with the saints in light forever. “This can as well be be the expression of your trust.
Remember the Bible says, woo be to that man that will put his trust in man

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
They that trust in the Lord can never be put to shame

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to maintain my trust in you.

DOES YOUR MATTER DRAWS GOD’S ATTENSION ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 14 December 2019

Text:
Genesis 18:20-33

Topic:
DOES YOUR MATTER DRAWS GOD’S ATTENTION❓

Memory verse:
1 John 1:9

Message:
From our text you will notice that there was a charge against the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the accusations were so strong that heaven had to detail a three – man delegation to find out how true those grievous charges were. The leader of that delegation was The Angel of the Lord ( the pre-incarnate Christ) and incidentally they stopped over at Abraham’s house on this search Journey. But most unfortunately, they experienced first- hand that those accusations were not mere witch-hunt.

Without doubts, Satan has been described as the accuser of the brethren, who accuses them before God day and night ( Rev 12:10). We know that some accusations are nothing but cheap blackmail. But now if Satan were to get a hint of God’s intentions concerning your promotion, healing, financial miracles and open doors, what possible charges can he boldly forward against you and how true could they be?

He brought charges against Job but they all proved to be mere allegations. All the accusations he and his cronies leveled against our Lord Jesus were unfounded. But what can be said in our own case whatever the outcome may be, the assurance of God’s word today is that a fountain has been opened in Zion for cleansing (Zech. 13:1) And the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness ( 1 John 1:9) Two things are required of us today. First, is to receive the forgiveness and cleansing that Jesus offers when we confess our sins and the second is to stand up and intercede for our brethren against whom there are written ordinances and satanic charges. Let’s intercede for them as Abraham did, perhaps we could save a lot.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Every charge against God’s elect can be nullified through the power of contrition and confession.

PRAYER:
Lord, grant me the sincerity of heart to address every satanic accusations against me.

ARE YOU WEARING YOUR BLESSINGS WELL ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 13 December 2019

Text:
Genesis 26:1 -12

TOPIC:
ARE YOU WEARING YOUR BLESSINGS WELL❓

Memory Verse:
Genesis 26:12

Message:
One time Isaac was in a famine. There was a great drought in the land, but Isaac went out and planted crops right in the middle of that famine. It didn’t make any sense but somehow in that same year of drought, the Scripture says, “Isaac received 100 times what he had sown because the Lord blessed him.”

What is interesting is that when Isaac got blessed, the people around him, the Philistines and his friends all of a sudden got jealous of him. They were fine as long as he was broke. As long as they were at the same level, when he began to wear his blessings well, the Scripture says, “The Philistines hated Isaac.”

Maybe you’ve noticed this in your own life. When you start to do better, the people around you don’t celebrate. They become jealous. But you can’t allow the attitudes of others to hold you back and cause you to live in mediocrity. Instead, when you’re blessed, brag on God! Shake off the criticism of others and receive His blessing. Wear it well because when you honour Him, He will continue to increase and promote you all the days of your life!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
When God blesses you, don’t hide it.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You for every good and perfect gift that You have poured out on my life.
