ARE YOU PLANNING WISELY❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 15 November 2019

TOPIC:
ARE YOU PLANNING WISELY❓

KEY VERSE:
“Any enterprise is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts” (Prov. 24:3-4, TLB).

TEXT: Proverbs 24:1-5

MESSAGE:
A man was travelling and stopped at an intersection. He asked an elderly man, “Where does this road take me?” The elderly person asked, “Where do you want to go?” The man replied, “I don’t know.” The elderly person said, “Then you take any road.” What difference does it make? When we don’t know where we are going, any road will take us there. The place of planning cannot be overemphasised as we dream of success in all our endeavors. The problem is that many of us unfortunately leave the task of planning our lives in the hands of God. God’s word does not encourage such foolishness. In fact God’s word recommends that we make our plans and present them to God for rectification and blessings. Proverbs 16;1, 3 (GNT) states: “We may make our plans but God has the last word”. Ask the Lord to bless your plans, and you will be successful In carrying them out.

In This remaining months of the year , if you really want to succeed you must make out time to set your goals; and through sanctified common sense; draw tangible plans of how you hope to actualise them and then take it to the Lord in prayer. As God’s blessings come upon your plans success shall keep meeting you along the paths of life.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Failing to plan is planning to fail.

PRAYER:
Lord, make me a wise planner today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Samuel 19-20; 2 John

ARE YOU STILL BUSY REAPING YOUSELF

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 13 November 2019

Text:
1 Kings 20:38-43

TOPIC: ARE YOU STILL BUSY TRAPING YOURSELF❓

Memory Verse:
1 Kings 20:40

Message:
“A Wise Man” told a story of a very strong woodcutter who got  a job from a Timber Merchant. The conditions of service were so good that the woodcutter determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work.

The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 tress. His boss congratulated him and he was inspired by the commendation, he tried harder the next day but he could only bring 15 trees. The third day he tried even harder but he could only bring 10 trees. Day after day he was bringing less and less trees. “I must be losing my strength,” the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and  apologized saying that he could not understand what was going on. “When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” “Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees.”

In life, those who are too busy eventually turn out to be barren. ACTIVITY must be separated from PRODUCTIVITY. If we desire to be more productive, we must understand that it requires that we make DAILY PLANS that factor in a time for REST, RECREATION and SHARPENING of Skill. In our text 1king 20:40 you will notice that the young prophet in the parable stood the risk of losing his life because of over-busyness. Do not let that be your experience. Do not sacrifice your productivity at the altar of over busyness. Like my friend Becky will always want to work round the clock working for the boss leaving every other activities behind. Do not lose your marriage, valuable friends or your spiritual connections because of busyness.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Over busyness stifles our productivity.

PRAYER:
Lord, deliver us from the trap of unnecessary BUSYness

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR:
1 Chronicles 1-3;  Jude
