ARE YOU RESPONDING TO YOUR ABILITY ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 24 August 2020

Text:
John 13:1-15

TOPIC:
ARE YOU RESPONDING TO YOUR ABILITY❓

Memory Verse:
John 13:15

Message:
Once upon a time, there were four men named: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. But, Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it. But, Nobody did it. Somebody got angry  about it because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought that Anybody could do it and Nobody realised that Everybody would not do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody that Nobody did the Job that Anybody could have done in the first place.

Our lesson today calls for taking personal responsibility to serve others. It requires a commitment to the slogan: “If it is going to be, it is up to me.” The meal was ready but their feet were dirty. There was no servant who could wash their feet. Everybody was waiting for somebody to Volunteer to do it and Nobody Volunteered to do it. Then the Lord deliberately took over the responsibility in order to teach them that unforgettable lesson of humility. He washed their feet one after another.

Today and whenever duty calls, do not wait for somebody. Nobody may rise to the responsibility, so make up your mind to do it. Tell yourself that if you don’t do it, it may not get done.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Irresponsibility means not responding to one’s ability.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to always demonstrate responsibility by serving others.

WHY NOT PRAY ABOUT IT❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 22 August, 2020

Text:
Psalm 35:1-2

TOPIC:
WHY NOT PRAY ABOUT IT❓

Memory Verse:
1 Peter 5:7

MESSAGE:
What is prayer? Prayer is a channel employed by believers to communicate with God. It is an acceptance or recognition of a need that requires superior power or assistance to handle. It should be the first and only resort when one is at the crossroads.

Prayer is admission that there are things or situations we cannot resolve by ourselves. It is the premise of the belief that there are challenges we cannot share with enemies. In this situation, the petitioner consider himself helpless and appeals to the supreme Being for deliverance and help.

Are you in a difficult situation now? Are too many forces, physical and spiritual, currently fighting you? Is your marriage delayed or crashing? Is sickness ravaging your home? Are your finances, business and sources of income, etc, closing down? Pray! Pray! Pray!

Take all your burdens to Jehovah, He knows what to do. Jesus cares about you. He can deliver you. Stop complaining and trying to fight back or defend yourself. You cannot save or help yourself. Pray about them all.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Take your entire burden to Mighty God in prayer He knows what to do.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to always take all my burdens to You in prayer and not to complain, fight or attempt to rely on my flesh.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE DAYS OF TROUBLE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 21 August 2020

TOPIC:
HOW DO YOU HANDLE DAYS OF TROUBLE❓

KEY VERSE:
“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:15,KJV)

TEXT:
Psalm 20:1-8; 50:15

MESSAGE:
Some days are not like others. A time comes when we wake up to meet some challenges that present themselves as insurmountable. At such times our best are never good enough. In fact, the more we try to grapple with the situation the more it gets out of hands. Some days like that pressures lose all their weights on us and want to press life out of our being. Sure moments are what the Bible calls the day of trouble. Unfortunately, such days cannot be wished away.

But God’s Word today tells us what to do when we meet such days. We are not to do our best to deal with it. We are not to go into hiding. We must not think of committing suicide. The Lord says, ‘call upon me in the day of trouble ‘.He said so because He is our trouble solver. There is no impossible situation with Him. The problem He cannot solve does not exist. The cause of the trouble is the subject matter. It makes no difference whether you, your parents, spouse, siblings, neighbours or even demons are the cause of the trouble. God says that all you need to do in the day of trouble is to call upon him.

The assurances of God’s Word in Psalm 20 should make us courageous enough to face this day.

“In your day of trouble, may the Lord be with you! May the God of Jacob keep you from all harm. May He send you aid from his sanctuary in Zion. May he remember with pleasure the gifts you have given Him, your sacrifices and burnt offerings. May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfil all your plans. May there be shouts of joy when we hear the news of your victory, flags flying with praise to God for all that he has done for you. May He answer all your prayers!” from now and henceforth. Amen.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
God is an ever present help in times of trouble.

PRAYER:
Lord I glorify your name for hearing my call in the day of trouble.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR INCOME ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THURSDAY 20 August, 2020

Text:
Phil. 4:12, Hebrews 13:5, Proverbs 13:22

Topic:
HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR INCOME❓

Memory verse:
Proverb 22:7

Message:
There is this saying that all days are not the same, save for a rainy day. When you don’t work, savings will work for you. A child of God should also know how to manage his finances to have a balance. He should be able to manage his spending according to his income. Believers have to apply wisdom in spending their monies. This is important in order to avoid financial bankruptcy and embarrassment from people. It is not surprising to say that some Christians live extravagantly. Before the end of the month, they become beggars and continue to seek financial assistance from their colleague or banks. In fact, we are expected to spend money with discretion and control. Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts and you lack the means to pay back. As you make your bed so also you lie on it. Be wise in spending.

Apostle Paul admonished the Philippian Church believers to be prudent and contended with what they have whether fed satisfactorily or hungry. He also emphasized the need for believers to cope in times of living in plenty and act diligent. However, the writer of the book of Hebrews further said that God would never leave His children nor forsake them. Solomon identified that a good person leaves inheritance for his generations to come. When a person borrows money, incurs debts and dies untimely, the children are bound to suffer.

How do you use your income? One of the problems facing believers today is the inability to manage their money wisely and save a little. May the good Lord bless your income to promote your family in particular and the kingdom in general.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
A small debt produces a debtor, a large one- an enemy.

Prayer:
God make me to lend money to people instead of being a continuous borrower in Jesus’ name.

IS THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT IN YOUR FAVOUR ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 18 August 2020

Text:
Zechariah 4:1-6

Topic:
IS THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT IN YOUR FAVOUR❓

Memory Verse:
Zechariah 4:6

Message:
Are you struggling or striving to make something happen? Maybe, you need a breakthrough in your finances or in a relationship. It is good to do everything we know to do in the natural, but we have to always remember that victory doesn’t come by might nor power, but by the Spirit of the living God.

One translation says, “it is by the breath of Almighty God.” When you know God is breathing in your direction and dare to take a leap of faith and say, “Yes, this is my time; I’m going to accomplish my dreams,” that’s when you will feel a wind beneath your wings lifting you up. That’s when you’ll feel a supernatural lift, an anointing that will help you accomplish what you could not accomplish on your own.

Today, know that the wind of God is blowing. This is your season. This is your time to believe again. Believe that God can open doors that no man can shut. Believe that He is working behind the scenes in your favour. Believe that it’s your season; it’s your time and get ready to embrace every blessing He has in store for you!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Without God, we are nothing on our own.

PRAYER:
Father God, today, I surrender every area of my heart, my mind, my will and my emotions to You.

CAN YOU SPEAK OUT FOR GOD ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 15 August 2020

TOPIC:
CAN YOU SPEAK OUT FOR GOD❓

KEY VERSE:
“Therefore prepare yourself and arise, and speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed before their faces, lest I dismay you before them” (Jer. 1:17).

TEXT:
Exodus 4:10-12; Jeremiah 1:11-19

MESSAGE:
The message in the key verse is loud and clear: Get up! Prepare yourself! Go and speak all that God has comamnded you to speak today. Do it with a confidence in Him. The story of Moses is similar to most of our personal experiences.

When God called him to be His spokesman, his mind, rather, got fixed on his own weaknesses. “Then Moses said to the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what to say.”

You will notice here that God’s concern wasn’t Moses’ ability but availability. All God wanted was his yieldedness. The NIV translation of the verse above says “I will help you speak” while the NKJV and the NASB, says, “I will be with your mouth.”

God will be with your mouth today. He will tell you exactly what you need to say to the people He will bring across your path. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it, whenever you turn to the right hand or left (Isa 30:21). Don’t let today pass by without speaking to some people on God’s behalf. Tell the people God’s Word. Be God’s spokesperson today!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
As we open our mouths today, God will fill it with His words.

PRAYER:
Lord, grant me the boldness to be Your mouth piece today.

WHY NOT REBUILD YOUR ALTER ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 14 August 2020

Text:
Ezra 3:1-3; Nehemiah 2:17-18

TOPIC:
WHY NOT REBUILD YOUR ALTAR❓

MEMORY VERSE:
Exodus 17:15

Message:
To rebuild the altar simply means to put the altar in order so that it can serve the purpose of worshipping God. It means that the altar is either damaged or corrupt and needs rebuilding. In other words, it means the temple is bad and so it requires starting a new one. There is need to reset the fire burning in your altar to allow the glory of God come down. In 1 Samuel 4:3-4, Israelites moved with the ark of God that signified His presence when they had battle with the Philistines. Today, altar is designed for God’s presence and it should be kept alive.

After the reign of King Saul, David and Solomon, the people of Israel were divided into two kingdoms, namely, the Northern and the Southern Kingdom because of their sins. The Northern kingdom comprised the ten tribes of Israel and the Southern kingdom comprised the two tribes of Israel. These kingdoms were taken into exile for seventy years. While in captivity, their freedom was restricted because they were foreigners. However, the permission and the decree of King Cyrus of Persia made the Israelites serve the foreign land and return to Jerusalem. Everything in Jerusalem was totally destroyed and burnt down.

But Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah were Jews and leaders who brought the Israelites out into Jerusalem to serve their God. What has pulled down your altar? Is it sin, lack of faith and confidence in God, doubt, anger, etc.? Arise, whatever it is, rebuild that altar, have a place of relating and communicating with your God. God is already waiting for you.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
Rebuild your individual or family altar in order to worship and praise the name of God.

PRAYER:
My God, let me not abandon my altar because of sins and corruption in Jesus’ name. Amen.

ARE YOU STILL CONTROLLED BY ANGER❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Thursday 13 August 2020

*TOPIC*:
*ARE YOU STILL CONTROLLED BY ANGER❓*

*KEY VERSE*:
“Don’t sin by letting anger control you”(Ephesians 4:26).

*TEXT*:Eph. 4:26-27

*MESSAGE*:
When “ANGER” is consiously or unconsciously stored up in the heart, it becomes “DANGER”. it inevitably reflects in ones behaviour negatively. It could make one to overreact at the slightest provocation, revealing the bitterness buried in the heart. Often, such anger or bitterness is rooted in the event(s) of the past – perhaps an unfair treatment that was endured at a younger age or an abuse or insult one had to put up with at the work place or even in the street. While the one who stores up anger in his or her heart is not free, the most unfortunate thing is that those who often bear the brunt of such anger and bitterness are mostly innocent people.

Though created with a capacity of anger, the human heart is not meant to store up anger. This is because anger is like a terrible acid that inevitably destroys its container and poisons the surrounding environs. The Bible wisely instructs us to not let the sun go down while we are yet angry (Eph.4:26). In other words, we’re not to sleep over anger; for the longer anger stays in the heart, the more power it gains to control our lives, and ultimately destroys us.
in other words any delayed ANGER=DANGER

For our own good, we must get rid of anger in all it’s forms – be it stored up in our hearts or the one we “entertain” intermittently. It all begins by releasing ourselves to God, and turning over to Him whatever issue that is trying to brew and store up anger in our hearts. As we trust His love, faithfulness, and sovereignty, He will help us, release us from past hurts, give us the ability to forgive and the freedom to live above the control of anger.

*CONTROLLING THOUGHTS*:
Do not sleep over anger; for the longer anger stays in the heart, the more power it gains to control and ultimately destroy a life.

*PRAYER*:
Lord, today I release to you every anger lodged in my heart, and receive your healing and comfort. I will no longer be controlled by anger.

WHY NOT LEARN THE PROCESS ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 11 August 2020

Text:
Psalm 103:2-8

TOPIC:
WHY NOT LEARN THE PROCESS❓

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 103:7

Message:
In short, process is how to get something done. It is the measures one takes to achieve a certain result or arrive at a certain place in life. There is a process to everything on planet earth. “If you quit on the process, you are quitting on the result,” says Idowu Koyenikan in his book, Wealth for All: Living a Life of Success at the Edge of Your Ability.

Although wisdom holds that how one climbs a mountain is more important than reaching the top, majority of humanity prefer to reach the top without passing through the process. We largely prefer the fish to knowing how to catch the fish. Most of us want the meat desperately but want to avoid the hunt by all means.

That’s what the Holy Spirit is drawing our attention to today. During the first encounter the children of Israel had one-on-one with their loving covenant Father in heaven in Exodus 19 and 20, where the Lord came down in His majesty, the people said Moses, “speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die” (20:19). From then on, God brought Moses very near to learn His ways of producing miracles but the Israelites became spectators who saw the miracles but didn’t know how they were produced.

Indeed, many Christians are like the Israelites. We want the product but don’t want to know the process of making it. Why don’t you dare to be different? Why don’t you become a Moses? Why don’t you decide today to pay the price it takes to become an expert or an authority in something so that you will become a sought after person in your time? What is the Holy Spirit telling you now? OBEY!

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
“Transformation is a process, and as life happens, there are tons of ups and downs”.

PRAYER:
Father, give me the patience to pay the price to learn what it takes to make me whom You designed me to be. Amen.

CAN YOU SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 10 August, 2019

Text:
Mark 11:20-24

TOPIC:
CAN YOU SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN❓

Memory Verse:
Mark 11:23

MESSAGE:

It is not the titles behind or before your name that scare the devil. He has only two problems with you. He has a problem with the Word of God that is in your heart and the Word of God that comes out of your mouth when you are praying or in a conversation. Every Word of God is loaded with explosive elements that destroy the plans of the wicked one and restore lives. Even the Angels receive their daily assignment when the Power in the Word is released through the Spoken Word.

Don’t complain about the mountain, speak to it. Prevailing prayer is jot talking to God about the problems; It is talking to the problems with the Word of God. The Word of God is that Rod in Moses’ hand that divided the Red Sea. The Word of God is that Rock in David’s sling that slew Goliath. Put some Word in your mouth today, your enemy will bow out! Jesus said, “if you will say to this mountain, be lifted and be cast into the sea, it will obey you…” Today, you can speak to your mountain, give it condition and it will obey you.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Every Word of God is loaded with explosives capable of surmounting your mountain.

PRAYER:
Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable unto you oh Lord.
