WHY NOT START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
1 Samuel 17:31-50

TOPIC:
WHY NOT START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE❓

Memory Verse:
1 Samuel 17:50b

MESSAGE:
The problem with many people all over the world is that they are busy looking at, and complaining about what they do not have instead of thinking of and making use of what they have. Many people fix their eyes on the things that are lacking in their lives. They do not even ever consider the ones that are wasting without proper use in their lives. This is a wrong attitude towards life.

It should not be forgotten that Success is a Function of Effort and Effort put in the right direction
It should not also be forgotten that prosperity and success do not come from the things that are lacking or missing. Rather, they come from the things that are available and also been put into proper use.
King David is a perfect example of a man who considered and  put into use whatever he had available. His  encounter with Goliath illustrates this point better.

Goliath was a terrorist who taunted and tormented the entire nation of Israel. No one had courage to confront let alone fight him. The king had already conceded defeat. But, David arrived the scene, had confidence in the name of his God whom the uncircumcised Philistine mocked. He quickly announced to all his willingness to not not only challenge but also defeat and kill the man that mocked his God and the people of Israel.

When Saul heard of David’s decision, he clothed him with his garments and armour. But, Saul’s armour and garment became an impediments to David. He quickly removed them and told Saul he could not use them as they were strange to him. He took his sling and stones, which were laughed at and underrated by even the enemy, and confronted him in the name of the Lord and defeated him.

It does not matter how little or insignificant what you have may be. Trust in your GOD. Put it to into use. You shall see a miracle today!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Stop looking at the things you do not have. Consider the ones you have, no matter how small, and put them into use.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to put into use whatever You have given me.

CAN YOU TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL.
Saturday 7 July, 2019.

TEXT:
Genesis 13:8-13; 19:12-23

TOPIC:
CAN YOU TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES ❓

KEY VERSE:
Proverbs 14:12

MESSAGE:
One of the most painful discoveries a person can make is to find out that he is responsible for the word and tragedies that have befallen him because of a wrong choice. Every day, people make choices and every choice has a negative or positive impact on the maker. A choice can make a life; a choice can completely Mar a life. The choice made a lot according to our study text, will tell us more.

In Genesis 13, Abraham asked Lot, his nephew, to make a choice of destination between the right and left following the constant rift between their servants. Lot, who was a longer person, agreed to the proposal. He quickly “lifted up his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere…” and he “chose for himself all the plain…. and journeyed east” (verse 10-11). It is obvious that Lot’s choice was informed by materialism, if not greed. What his physical eyes saw caught his attraction.

However, the Bible records that the good looking path Lot had chosen was so because the Lord was yet to destroy it. The path Lot chose led to Sodom and Gomorrah, a city that was exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord. Soon, the Lord “rained brimstone and fire on the Sodom and Gomorrah. He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities…” (19:24-25). And, Lot lost all but his life and two daughters.

Beloved, what informs your daily choices? Are you like Lot? Are you being pushed by materialism, greed, lust, who, spouse, children, rivals, position, etc., or God? Kindly read our key verse above again!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
a choice can make a life; a choice can completely mar a life.

PRAYER:
Father, please help me in my daily choice not to go astray or be moved by anyone or anything else except You.

WILL YOU DISAPOINT GOD❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 5 July 2019

Text:
Matthew 21:17 -19

TOPIC:
WILL YOU DISAPPOINT GOD❓

Memory Verse:
Romans 7:4

MESSAGE:
God has never been purposeless in creation. From antiquity through the contemporary times, there has always been a defined aim behind every creation of God. In other words, God identifies a need before He creates both animate and inanimate being. And, GOD expects the creation to fulfill the need for which it has been created.

However, if any creation of God falls short in it’s fulfilment of the reason for which it was created, GOD would be DISAPPOINTED. A look at our study text,  explains better. Christ was approaching a fig tree that stood by the road with high expectation. JESUS was entering the street hungry and had nothing to eat. Then, He looked up and saw from a distance, a good-looking fig tree with green leaves all over. He then reasoned  that such healthy-looking-tree should produce an abundant fruit for consumption. Unfortunately, upon arrival, He saw nothing but leaves on the tree. Not even a single fruit! on the Tree🌲

Jesus became disappointed. That means the original purpose for creating the tree has been defeated. The Tree became nothing but a liability and has no longer reason to exist. Christ cursed the tree and it died immediately.

❗Are you bearing good fruits as God expects?
❗Are you fulfilling the lofty expectations of God over your life?
❗Are you producing for Christ?
If your answer is no, then, you are at The risk of His curse! Our prayer today shall be, “Lord deliver me from every form of fruitlessness and help me to start bearing fruits that match your expectations of me”.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
You are an image of GOD, you are required to bear fruit. CHRIST says I am the tree and You my branches any that refuses to bear Fruit shall be caught off.

PRAYER:
O Lord, help me to be among your branches that will bear the Fruit of righteousness…

WILL YOU BE AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Thursday 4 July, 2019.

TEXT:
Psalm 118:16-24

TOPIC:
WILL YOU BE AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT❓

KEY VERSE:
Psalm 118:22

MESSAGE:
A Jewish legend that explains our key verse has it that when Solomon’s temple was under construction, all the stones sent from the quarry were practically the same size and shape. One day, however, a stone came that was different from all the rest. The builders said there is no place for this stone. It must be a mistake. So they rolled it to the edge of the cliff and pushed it over, into the valley of Kedron.

As the years went on (Solomon’s temple took seven years to build), the building was finally ready for the chief capstone. So they sent an order for it. “You must have it there” the stonecutters said. “The records show we sent to you already” they concluded. Their search proved fruitless. Then an old workman remembered, “There was a stone different from the rest and we thought there was no place for it. We pushed it over the cliff and into the valley.”

The workmen went into the valley of Kedron and there they found the Stone, now covered by lichen and debris- the very stone the builders had rejected. Now they had to hoist it to the top of the cliff and back to the construction site. When they put it in the place, it fits perfectly. The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone.

Do you feel dejected and rejected? Are you being isolated because you are different? Be encouraged by today’s message. This scripture became true of our Lord Jesus, it shall be the same for you.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
You are not a mistake; you can dare to be different.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me not to give up in life because of temporary rejection.

HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR DAILY CHOICES❓

*DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

Wednesday 3 July 2019

Text:
Deuteronomy 30:15-19

TOPIC:
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR DAILY CHOICES❓

Memory Verse:
Deuteronomy 30:19

*MESSAGE* :
One of the precious gifts God gave to man is WILL POWER otherwise man will not differ from a robot. Some people say if God controls the whole power why is it that all men have not *repented* ? Why is it that there is still *evil* in the world? The answer is because of Free Will. Man is not a programmed machine that functions as a result of commands; he is a being that has the ability to make choices. Thus, what becomes of our lives is a function of our *Daily Choices* God will never Force you to make *Decision*
God will always Give Men second chances and still Forgive… While Men will always Get from God and still Forget…

God has finished His work; the rest falls in our hands. The place you were, The place you are now and The place you will be depends on the kind of decisions and choices you are making. Never envy successful people because they are Men and Women who took the decision to stand when others were sitting. They chose to be Outstanding when others were standing, to become the standard and pacesetters to others

Let nobody deceive you that your future is in the hands of a witch doctor or that your that refuses to render help to you. Rather Your future is the product of your Daily Choices. From our text, you could clearly see God charge His elect to make the right choices. Please make out something today to take deep thoughts about what the outcome of your life should be. And, based on that projected outcome, make credible daily choices about the use of your Time, the Friends you keep, your work ethics, and so on

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Our daily choices determine the outcome of our lives.

Today is one of those tomorrow you have been waiting for.

PRAYER:
Lord, please help me to always makes the RIGHT CHOICE.

CAN YOU FOLLOW GOD’S DIRECTIVES❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 2 July, 2019

Text:
Genesis 26:1-14

TOPIC:
CAN YOU FOLLOW GOD’S DIRECTIVES❓

Memory Verse:
Proverbs 3:5

MESSAGE:
If you want things to go away for you, exclude God in your affairs. If you want your plans and endeavors to hit bricks, reply solely on your initiative without God. If you lean totally on your own understanding, philosophy and logic, you will sooner than later meet a cul-de-sac. For, no one can ever make it in life except the Lord approves of it.

Genesis 26 relates the second account of famine in the scripture. This famine occurred during the days of Isaac. And, as every responsible father and husband would do, Isaac chose to head down to Egypt, a place famine did not affect. Perhaps, he recalled that his father- Abraham, travelled to Egypt with the entire family and survived the first occurrence of famine. Maybe, he saw others fleeing to Egypt and decided to join them.

As he prepared to leave, God appeared to him and advised against the movement. The Lord, instead, instructed him to go a different direction and sojourn there for blessings. Isaac obeyed the directive of God and became a hundred times blessed in the end.

The Lord is telling you this morning to trust, follow and rely fully on His directive. He knows more than you can ever know. He sees more than you can ever see. He understands more than you can ever comprehend. Do it God’s way, not your own way.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
No one can ever make it in life except the Lord approves of it.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to trust, follow and rely fully on Your directive everyday of my life.

IS IT BY YOUR POWER❓OR BY YOUR MIGHT❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 01July 2019

Text:
ZECH. 4:1-7

TOPIC:
IS IT BY YOUR POWER❓OR BY YOUR MIGHT❓

KEY VERSE:
Zech. 4:6

MESSAGE:.
The word “might” suggests “force” or “power”. God’s work is completely by the Holy Spirit anointing. Though this does not suggest that we are to be passive. In other words,

📌God is not looking for ready- made instruments, but raw materials to refine.
📌God is not looking for important personalities rather He is looking for ordinary vessels He would empower for service (Act 1:8)
📌God is not looking for the qualified, but is looking for willing vessels to equip for extraordinary ministry like, men of old.
📌God is not looking for the wise of this world, instead, He is looking for those considered foolish in the eye of the world to confound the so – called wise men (1 Cor. 1:20)

Moses was not vast in speech, but he became vast in personal experience following his encounter with God. He saw God’s glory (Ex. 32). Joshua was unpopular until he was empowered by the Spirit of God (Deut. 34:9) Gideon was the least in his family, but God used him to deliver Israel from Midianites’ oppression (Judges 6:16). Jeremiah considered himself a child; yet the Lord put His word in his mouth (Jer.1:1-8). Peter was known as an unschooled fisherman, yet he became a lively instrument God used to bring salvation to thousands of souls (Act 4:3). He also wrote two Epistles that bear his name in the New Testament.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The Holy Spirit makes the difference in the life and ministry of an individual.

PRAYER:
God, I need your backing in my life and in all my endavours from this 1st day of July 2019.

ARE YOU STILL COMPLAINING❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
Proverbs 8:11-14

TOPIC:
ARE YOU STILL COMPLAINING❓

KEY VERSE:
Proverbs 8:12

MESSAGE:
A report by the Punch Newspaper shows that the total number of workers in 487 Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) is estimated at 330,820. A verification exercise of this figure was on going as at August 2018. On the other hand, universities and polytechnics in Nigeria graduate over one million people every year. The private sector is not growing and thus, not employing. State governments are also stagnant.

To get a job, young Christian graduates must create one or do something creative to draw the attention of employers. Take the case of David Casarez, a homeless software development graduate of Mountain View, California who printed a fine CV and went out to the streets of the city handing it over to anyone that came his way. He did so evangelistically  until a social media user identified as @jayscD posted Casarez’ story on twitter. Thereafter, three giants – Google, Netflix and LinkedIn offered him a Job.

Truly, wisdom is profitable to direct. It helps the prudent to find creative solutions to the challenges of life. Don’t just sit there complaining. Go out and do something. This 2019 month of June is Ending today. As you are entering the New Month of July, Ask God to put an idea into you that will create the next big success story. Wisdom is out there beckoning on you! 👀

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it”…(Mother Theresa).

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please open the windows of heaven and pour upon me creative ideas, concepts and insights to meet the challenges of my life.

CAN YOU OVERCOME TEMPTATION❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 29 June, 2019

Text:
Proverb 4:23-27

TOPIC:
CAN YOU OVERCOME TEMPTATIONS❓

Memory Verse:
1 Corinthians 10:13

MESSAGE:
Temptation can be described as a strong urge or desire to do something that is very bad. This strong urge to do wrong happens in everyone’s mind. In other words, temptation comes to everyone irrespective of class, faith, age, number of years being a believer and position or title held in the Christian faith.

Temptation beings from on the inside. It begins with an evil thought desire or wish that has been dwelt upon for long. When one dwells on evil thought for long, they turn into actions. And, the moment one acts along the margins of such evil thought, one has fallen woefully into temptation.

However, temptation can be overcome. The just and faithful God cannot allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear according to our memory verse. In fact, He  has gone ahead to provide us with templates to overcome any temptation as we can see in Proverbs. The templates include:

Watch over your heart with all diligence (V.23a)
Put away a deceitful mouth and devious speech (V.24
Let your eyes look directly and ahead and stay focused (V25)
Watch the path of your feet (V.26)
Do not turn to right or left, and refrain your foot from evil (V.27)

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The just and faithful God cannot allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and overcome.

PRAYER:
Lord, please give me the grace to follow your templates and overcome every temptation that will come my way.
