DO YOU KNOW❗YOU CAN STILL GUARD YOUR EYES❓

Memory Verse:
Psalm 119:37

MESSAGES
The above prayer by David, the sweet Psalmist of Israel is worth our attention. It speaks volumes concerning a very disheartening experience he had, the last time his eyes were unguarded.

One evening, as he was loitering about, his eyes saw what he never intended to see, it lead him to his worst night mare. He went into another man’s wife, Uriah’s wife. One sin led to another and eventually, he ended up as an unfaithful husband and a murderer. Worst still, he was told that because of that infamous act “the sword shall not depart from your house forever” (2 Sam. 12:10)

Recalling those ugly pictures, king David not wanting a repeat of such moral failure prayed, Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things…. “Worthless things in our case will include pornography, horoscopy, monies offered in bribery, leaked examination script, etc. It could be for the same reason that Job had to cut a covenant. Hear him , “I have made a covenant with my eyes that I will not look lustfully upon a maid” (Job 31-1)

Unfortunately, we live in a world today where we are daily bombarded with disgusting and morally weakening pictures from the media industry. And if we are careless about it, chances are high that it will affect our psyche and can lead us into some ungodly addictions. Let us therefore join the saints of old to pray that prayer and learn to fix our eyes only on God glorifying things.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Unguarded eyes betray the heart.

PRAYER:
Lord, turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things today.

ARE YOU READY TO GROW UP❓

ARE YOU READY TO GROW UP❓

Memory verse:
1 COR.13:11

Message :
sometimes in life, what we are, where we are, what we have, play a very big role in our relationship and walk with God and also serves as a pointer to what God will want to do with us. Many times, before God will do anything with us, He weighs us on a scale, not by age but by our spiritual maturity to know if we are fit for the task or not. We really need to grow up. Until we come out of the childish concept that we are still young, it is not long we started coming to this church, it is not yet time we join any department in the church etc, growth will be very far from us. And we need to show signs of maturity to be fit for God’s use.

You are the Jeremiah of your generation, the time God wants to use you is now, the time for your destiny to play out is now, but the problem is you. You still possess a childish character. You need to grow up. Growth is constant, but if your prayers life,  your activities towards the things of God, the way you study the Bible, is not growing at all, you cannot grow spiritually. According to one of our texts today, Apostle Paul said, “…. but when I became a man, I put away childish things”. Do not remain a child. Children always creep on the floor or ground but adults March on it.

If you can put away childish life and grow up spiritually, character- wise and the way you think, you will see that everything about you will surely grow along too.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
Growth is inevitable in life, if you see the need, you will surely see the growth.

PRAYER:
Ask God to give you the grace to grow in life, and not to remain as a child.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR :
Genesis 49 -50; Romans 16

DO YOU KNOW THAT BELIEVER ARE BLESSED ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

*TOPIC:*
*DO YOU KNOW THAT BELIEVERS ARE BLESSED*❓

KEY VERSE:*
“How we praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every blessing in heaven because we belong to Christ” {Ephesians 1:3, TLB).

*TEXT**
EPHESIANS 1:3-14

*MESSAGE**
When you become a follower of Christ, not only do you receive eternal life, but
you are blessed with spiritual blessings. Scripture tells us that we are blessed with every blessing in heaven. What are the spiritual blessings of heaven?
Peace, joy, favor, abundance, grace, and so much more. As believers in Christ,
we are blessed with earthly talents, and as well as spiritual blessings.

God has given us talents, fulfillment, favor and abundance. You are blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. You are blessed with
confidence and assurance that your God is who He says He is. You are kept safe and secure in the hands of Almighty God. Think about all of the blessings that God has given you and thank Him for them today!

Don’t agree with anybody who tells you that you are not good enough to enjoy God’s blessings. God has you in mind when He blesses. Here’s God’s promise to you: “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow” (Deut. 28:12).

*CONTROLLING THOUGHTS**
Your spiritual blessings in the heavenly realm is sufficient to cater for all your earthly needs.

*PRAYER*
I know that you have richly blessed me, and I thank you! Help me to seek your favor and live abundantly in your love in Jesus’ name. Amen.

CAN YOU SPEAK TO YOUR SITUATION ❓

TOPIC:
CAN YOU SPEAK TO YOUR SITUATION❓

Memory Verse:
Numbers 14:28

MESSAGES
If you want to know where you are going to be five years from now, listen to your words. Whether you know it or not, each time you open your mouth, you are prophesying your future. If you want to be stronger, healthier and happier then start declaring it today.

We talk more to ourselves than we do to anybody else. The question is, what are you saying to yourself?  Jeremiah was young and he did not have a lot of self-confidence. When he heard God’s promises, rather than feeling blessed, he was afraid. He said, “God, I can’t do that. I can’t speak to nations. I’m too young. I won’t even know what to say” . But God answered, Jeremiah. Say not that you are young”. Indeed, there are things we ought not to say to ourselves.

Negative words hinder the promises of God from coming to fruition in our lives. It is wrong to limit God with negative confessions from the lips. God responds to us according to what we speak into His ears (Num.14:28). All the Israelites who chose to grumble and complain against the Lord died in the desert because they declared so over their lives. So, learn from today to make your words a blessing to your life. By the fruit of your lips you shall be satisfied with good things.

Speak well to your spouse, children, home, church and you will see the fruit start to germinate. The Bible says that when we decree a thing, it comes to pass (Job 22:28) Like Paul, you can declare today, ‘I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me (Phil. 4:13)

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Speaking negative words to and about ourselves is the worst of all Acts of self-sabotage.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to learn to use of my tongue more productively.

WHY NOT BE A GOD’S FRIEND ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 17th January, 2020

Text:
James 2:14-23

Topic:
WHY NOT BE A GOD’S FRIEND❓

Memory verse:
James 2:23

Message:
A songwriter captured this thought succinctly, “Friendship with Jesus , fellowship divine, oh what blessed sweet communion, Jesus is a friend of mine”. Of all kind of relationships, friendship with God is the most substantial. And beyond our premonitions, the all-knowing and all-powerful Creator of the universe wants personal friendship with us.

He wants to walk with you, talk with you and simply share life with you. That’s why He created you, first and foremost, for His fellowship. It’s as simple as opening your heart of faith to him just like Abraham did.

The bible says that God is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That means He is always faithful and true. People may let you down, but God will never let you down. He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. He is with you always. He is mindful of you. He is always thinking of you.

What an honor and privilege it is to be called God’s friend! Sure enough, you might be feeling that you don’t deserve it and really you don’t. All that is required of you is to accept His friendship and choose to grow in intimacy with Him by following the footsteps of Abraham.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT: The best of all relationship is friendship with Jesus.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for being my friend today. Thank You for loving me and being faithful to me. Amen.
