DO YOU KNOW ❗ YOU CAN RESIST THE DEVIL ❓

TOPIC:
DO YOU KNOW❗ YOU CAN RESIST THE DEVIL❓

Memory Verse:
1 Corinthians 14:33

Message:
For the devil and his followers, the name of the game is chaos or confusion. Wherever the devil is, there is scattering, division, confusion and break ups. The Greek words that formed the word devil are “dia bolos,” essentially meaning “apart” and “throw.” When put together as “diabolos,” it means one who splits or divides.

In Proverbs 6:16-19, the Bible outlines some of the strategies the enemy uses to operate among God’s people. Here is the list: Haughty eyes, a Lying tongue, Hands that kill the innocent, a Heart that plots evil, Feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows Discord among brothers (NLT).

Trade carefully from today. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1Peter 5:8). Don’t allow a discord sower to flourish in your midst. Don’t be ignorant of the devices of the devil. Resist people who are under the influence of the devil. Resist people who are under the influence of the devil but operate within the church. You have seen their trademarks. Don’t fall for their tricks. As you resist and overcome them, peace and harmony will be your portion.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Resisting the devil clears the way for your success.

PRAYER:
Oh Lord, help me to daily resist the enemy of my life.

ARE YOU STILL A TALE BEARER❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
2 Samuel 18:19-30

TOPIC:
ARE YOU STILL A TALE BEARER❓

Memory Verse:
2 Samuel 18:20

Message:
In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in  high esteem.  One day, an acquaintance met the the great philosopher and said…, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?” “Hold on a minute” Socrates replied, “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. I call it the “TRIPLE FILTER TEST”. The first is TRUTH. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true? “Well, no” the man said, Actually I just heard about it and … ” ” All right” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now, let’s try the second filter, the filter of GOODNESS.” ‘Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?” “Umm, no, on the contrary.” “So” Socrates continued, “You want to tell me something bad about my friend, but you are not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, because there’s one filter left – the filter of USEFUL to me? “” No, not really”. Well, concluded Socrates, “If what you want to tell me about my friend is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”

We are called to be carriers of the good news and not TALE BEARERS. Those who are engaged in tale bearing often end up separating friends (Prov. 17:9). So today, before you tell someone about another person make sure what you have to say is true, good and useful.
Don’t behave like Ahimaaz who wanted to curry the king’s favour by carrying a story he could not offer all the details. Instead, be a carrier of the good news. Tell somebody today about the love of Jesus since it is true, good and useful.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS

Idle minds discuss people, small minds discuss event but great minds discuss ideas
just like the
4-Way Test of the things we think, say or do is a test used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships. The test can be applied to almost any aspect of life:..
Is it the TRUTH⁉. Is it FAIR to all concerned⁉. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS⁉ 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to All⁉

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to always taste my words before I say them.

WHY NOT IMPROVE ON YOUR THINKING ATTITUDE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 02 December 2019.

Text:
Mark 2:1-12

TOPIC:
WHY NOT IMPROVE ON YOUR THINKING ATTITUDE ❓

Memory Verse:
Mark 2:4

Message:
The call for breakthrough thinking is God’s way of encouraging us to make use of our brains. The capacity of the human brain is far above the resources anyone can get from any computer. And it has been said that even the greatest of all the genius that have lived did not use up to ten percent of his brain capacity. This gose to let us know that we are designed with the abilities to solve most of the problems that are facing us in life.

We are not to be like the proverbial pine caterpillars. It is said that when pine caterpillars are joined end-to-end in a circle until the circle is closed, each will follow the caterpillar in front of it around the circle indefinitely. If you place food in the center of the circle, the caterpillars will continue to follow each other around that food until they die from starvation. The pine caterpillar is an insect without imagination.

We are encouraged by God’s words today to be like the friends of the paralytic. When they attempted to bring their sick friend to Jesus and they could not because of the crowd, they did not give up on their dreams. Instead, they thought of alternative means of reaching their set goal. And, as they invoked the power of their imagination, an idea dropped that resulted to a breakthrough for them. We can apply the same principle and receive our own miracles.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Miracle from God do not come by one way traffic.

PRAYER
Lord, help me to explore the possibilities around me.

CAN YOU SERVE UNCONDITIONALLY ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Sunday 01 December 2019

Text:
Acts 10:9-16

TOPIC:
CAN YOU SERVE UNCONDITIONALLY❓

Memory Verse:
Acts 10:13-14

Message:
At a prayer meeting in “Camp of Faith” Okigwe, a pious member was overheard imploring fervently, “Use me, O Lord, use me- but in an executive capacity.” In reality, service to God in this our time has come to a critical junction. It is no longer news that some people have preferences to where they will ‘serve’ in the Lord’s vineyard. And, what is more worrisome is that these set of people still claim that they are ‘serving’ the Lord.

Come to think of it, if He is the LORD and MASTER and we are His servants, who should indicate what should be done, when and how it should be done; Himself or we? Is it up to us to determine how we are to serve Him; where and when to do so?

It is indeed ironical that Peter said, “No” to the Lord. He was very much aware that it was the Lord who was giving him the instruction and yet recalcitrantly said, “No, Lord.” How often we find ourselves in the same dilemma as Peter saw himself; but may we learn what is required of us in order to honour God as our Lord and Master. May we resolve today to serve and heed to His directives unconditionally! Happy Sunday & New Month

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The Lord deserves our unconditional responses to all His biddings.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to learn to serve You unconditionally.

CAN YOU TRY AGAIN ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 30 November 2019

TOPIC:
CAN YOU TRY AGAIN❓

KEY VERSE:
“…Seven times Elijah said, ‘Go back'” (1 Kings 18:43, NIV).

TEXT:1 Kings 18:41-46

MESSAGE:
Lieut.Col. Odimegwu Ojukwu’s army was once defeated and scattered by a powerful enemy whose strength and resolve had been badly underestimated. Ojukwu himself had managed to escape into an old deserted Bunka while the enemy troops scouted the country side in search for him. His troops were either hiding or running.

Desperate and defeated, Odimegwu lay with his face In the dirt of that old Bunka floor watching an Ant attempt to carry a single kernel of corn over a perpendicular wall. The kernel was much larger than the Ant and so it was quiet a struggle. Sixty-nine times the Ant attempted to carry it up the wall. The Lieut. Col. counted each attempt. Sixty-nine times the Ant fell back with his oversized load. On the seventieth trial, the tenacious Ant managed to push the grain of corn over the top.

This demonstration of strength and persistence and final victory in the face of overwhelming obstacles so excited col.Odimegwu that he leaped to his feet with a shout. Quickly he left his hiding place, recognised the forces he could mobilise and went into the battle again. This time he was triumphant, putting his enemies to fight, until the War ended up in “No Victor No Vanquish”,

Many times in life we tend to give up after a few failed attempts. But God’s Word is encouraging us that we need not easily give up. Is it not surprising that Elijah had to keep praying for the rain God had promised to send? He continued to pray and kept checking up for the sign until he got it. Keep pressing forward, there is a sound of abundance. But if you TRY and fail, please TRY Again until victory is assured.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Don’t give up; Winners never Quit and Quitters never Win.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to develop a never giving up spirit.

WHAT TIME IS YOUR TIME ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 29 November 2019

TOPIC:
WHAT “TIME” IS YOUR TIME⁉

KEY VERSE:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Eccl. 3:1).

TEXT:
Matthew 7:7-11

MESSAGE:
Your blessing might not come if God’s timing is different than yours. God may want you to wait and grow in dependence on Him before He gives you something.

Take note of Psalm 18:30 which says “As for God, his way is perfect. All of the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection” (NLT). That means He knows when it is the right time for us to receive certain blessings and when it is not.

Writer said:
“A cosmic clock is ticking, it was established by God, not just for the vast movements of the universe but for every situation in your life. If you are frustrated by it, wondering why God is not rushing an answer to your earnest prayer, then feel at home. You’re part of a long list of people – biblical heroes included who have struggled with God’s timing.

If you are struggling with God’s timing, the standard counsel will be: BE PATIENT❕ Your answer will come.
Christmas is around the corner: please be patient
You have projects at hand not yet completed: please be patient
All your mate are married except you: please have little patience with God… Gods time is the best

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
“Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you have in mind” (Ogechi Ka Nma).

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the right attitude to appreciate your timing.

WHY NOT ASK IN FAITH❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL:

Thursday 28 November 2019

TOPIC:
WHY NOT ASK IN FAITH❓

KEY VERSE:
“Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).

TEXT:
Matthew 7:7-11

MESSAGE:
While we all know that God is good and He loves to bless His children, at the same time, He knows our hearts and understands when we put our faith to work. So, another reason that our expected blessings might not come is, if you are not asking in faith, truly believing he will

Read what our Lord and Saviour Jesus taught His followers: “Whatever you ask in prayer you will receive, if you have faith” (Matt. 21:22) and “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).

Jesus also said in Mark 9:23 that everything is possible to him who believes. But if you are having trouble believing that, ask God to help your unbelief. Jesus honoured the sincerity of the man who asked for something and followed it up with ‘help me to overcome my unbelief!'” (Mark 9:24).

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
“Activate your faith, live in victory, speak over your life and expect things to come your way”.

PRAYER:
O Lord, fill me with the faith that connects me to my blessings.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN THE DAYS OF YOUR TROUBLE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 27 November 2019

TOPIC:
WHAT DO YOU DO❗ IN THE DAYS OF YOUR TROUBLE❓

KEY VERSE:
“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:15,KJV)

TEXT:
Psalm 20:1-8; 50:15

MESSAGE:
Some days are not like others. A time comes when we wake up to meet some challenges that present themselves as insurmountable. At such times our best are never good enough. In fact, the more we try to grapple with the situation the more it gets out of hands. Some days like that pressures lose all their weights on us and want to press life out of our being. Sure moments are what the Bible calls the day of trouble. Unfortunately, such days cannot be wished away.

But God’s Word today tells us what to do when we meet such days. We are not to do our best to deal with it. We are not to go into hiding. We must not think of committing suicide. The Lord says, ‘call upon me in the day of trouble ‘.He said so because He is our trouble solver. There is no impossible situation with Him. The problem He cannot solve does not exist. The cause of the trouble is the subject matter. It makes no difference whether you, your parents, spouse, siblings, neighbours or even demons are the cause of the trouble. God says that all you need to do in the day of trouble is to call upon him.

The assurances of God’s Word in Psalm 20 should make us courageous enough to face this day.

“In your day of trouble, may the Lord be with you! May the God of Jacob keep you from all harm. May He send you aid from his sanctuary in Zion. May he remember with pleasure the gifts you have given Him, your sacrifices and burnt offerings. May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfil all your plans. May there be shouts of joy when we hear the news of your victory, flags flying with praise to God for all that he has done for you. May He answer all your prayers!” from now and henceforth. Amen.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
God is an ever present help in times of trouble.

PRAYER:
Lord I glorify your name for hearing my call in the day of trouble.

WHERE IS YOUR HOPE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 26th November 2019

Text:
Proverbs 23:17-18

TOPIC:
WHERE IS YOUR HOPE❓

Message:
Yes, only God is worthy enough to be the object of our hope! He is changeless, faithful to the core and ever beautiful for all situations. He created the Earth out of nothing; and He alone sustains the same, owing His existence to no other but Himself. What He does for His own at any given time is not determined by circumstances or any other force or being. He doesn’t disappoint hope; He fulfils it.

As we consider our text today, we’ re encouraged to know that our hope in God will not be disappointed, regardless of whatever force the enemy musters against us. God could literally go lengths to suspend even the natural laws and some other protocols, just to ensure that our hope in Him is neither shattered, nor our expectations cut off.

Indeed, it’s better to hope in Him than whatever situation we may find ourselves in. When we do, we’ll learn the art of calmly waiting on Him amidst the storms of life; we’ll be on top of everything situation, instead of fretting about it. Joy is one sure emotion that reveals we’re atop the situation, whatever it might be. This is because, among other things, the hope we have in God makes us see God as our strength!  Our souls remain unconquered, and our joy is not seasonable! And we dare to rejoice ahead of time because we already have the outcome of the battle it ever begins.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Hope in Him yet; He will certainly cause you to walk upon your high places.

PRAYER:
Lord, strengthen my hope in Your Word and in Your person.

WILL YOU ABUSE THE GRACE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 25 November 2019

Text:
Romans 6:1-2

TOPIC:
WILL YOU ABUSE THE GRACE❓

Memory Verse:
Galatians 5:13

Message:
Addressing those early Jewish Christians, Paul saw the need to help them understand that the doctrine of grace, which he had maintained, was not a license to sin-i.e., grace does not allow the indulgence of sinful desires and corrupt passions. Though freed from the rites and ceremonies of Mosaic laws, it was only freedom from that which would oppress the spirit; not from that which lays restraint on the flesh. In other words, he was warning them to not abuse grace.

A preacher of grace or one who believes in free grace, and yet lives carelessly in sin or worldliness doesn’t really understand what grace is all about. The same gospel that proclaimed to us liberty from ceremonial law, equally binds us still faster under the moral law (1 John2:3-6). Having received God’s infinitely gracious gift in salvation through Jesus (John 3:16; Rom 5:8), we should, out of gratitude, live to please, and not satisfy our fleshly desires (Rom 12:1-2).

As Christians, we’re not under the Old Testament Law. But, that doesn’t mean we’re not under any law at all; for we’re under the Law of Christ. It is a law of love (Matt 22:37-40). Keeping that law isn’t what makes us Christians, but it is what God expects us to live by because we are Christians. As David. Ogbueli wrote, “He who has given us grace, a new heart, and a new nature has truly deprived us of all excuse if we do not live for His own praise.” So, happy is that saint that rejoices in the Free Grace God has provided, but never forgets to WATCH, PRAY, and put his or her body under subjection, lest he or she falls into temptation!

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Let’s not abuse grace. Instead, let’s keep walking in the newness of the life we received in Christ.

PRAYER:
Lord, I acknowledge that I’ve been bought with a price. I therefore commit to live for You and You alone.
