WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE FOR LOVE❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
1 Corinthians 13:1-8

Topic:
WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE FOR LOVE❓

Memory verse:
1 Corinthians 13:8

Message:
We all have people in our lives who are difficult some times. Maybe, it’s someone you work with, a family member, or even your spouse. The Word of God clearly defines love in 1 Corinthians 13. It says that love is patient and kind. It doesn’t seek it’s own way. Love doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. And more importantly, love never fails.

Notice that this chapter doesn’t talk at all about how you feel. God’s love isn’t about feelings. It’s a choice. You can choose to be good to someone even when they don’t deserve it. You can choose to overlook an offense. Remember, the Holy Spirit is our helper. We weren’t meant to do it in our own strength. Ask God to show you how to love others better.

Take good note of these wise words: “The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference.” The task for us today is to choose to love one another, even the unlovable.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The choice to love is the best of choices.

PRAYER:
Empower me, by Your Spirit, to walk in love no matter what I may face today. Amen.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
Judges 3:1-4; Psalm 18:32-42;

TOPIC:
DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE❓

Memory Verse:
Judges 3:2

MESSAGES:
Our text today reveal something quite interesting in our relationship with God. We are told here that in God’s dealings with His children, He once in a while orchestrates circumstances to teach them some lessons.

From where we read, it is revealing that part of the lesson that God has for His people is a lesson on warfare. Why would God want to teach His children warfare? Firstly, God himself is a warrior (Exodus 15:3). So, He would want us His children to be warriors as well.

Secondly, God understands that life on Earth is full of battles. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, ” for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but might through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God: and bringing to captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”. Warfare skills would therefore, qualify His people for success in life.

A laissez-fair attitude to life would only produce lack and Lamentations and finally regret ( had I known). Now, you know. We must learn to fight the good fight of faith, if we want to lay hold on eternal life. What are some of the things we must be prepared to fight against? We must be prepared to fight: Unforgiveness Unrighteousness, Unbelief, Unproductive-lifestyle Laziness, Lack & Lateness, Church politics, Envy, Divorce, etc. We must resolve to fight against prayerlessness,(as a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. ) unfaithfulness, disbelief, etc. Fight against the power of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. Ask the Lord today to teach your fingers to fight.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
We are mighty warriors through Christ.

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the strength to fight my battles

WHERE CAN YOU REALLY FIND SAFETY ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TUESDAY 14 JANUARY 2020

Text:
Psalm 91:1-16

TOPIC: WHERE CAN YOU REALLY FIND SAFETY❓

Memory Verse:
Psalm 91:1

Message:
Security is an essential need of humanity. Unfortunately, our generation is faced with insecurity on daily basis. The national dallies and news have it on how lives and property are being lost as a result of insecurity in the nation. Globally, every nation is faced with one act insecurity the other. In Nigeria, the menace put into loss of one partner or both, loss of children and even properties. The list endless. Our uniformed personnel have lost the confidence of her citizens.

In such situation, the Psalmist has an answer where one can find safety. The Psalmist knew that is only in Christ that absolute security is found. Dwelling in the abode of the Most High gives security. The Psalmist says in verse two of our next”…. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety.” There are millions of benefits one receives when one abides in the shelter of the Most High:

📌 God will rescue you from every trap (emphasis added).
📌. He will protect you from deadly diseases.
📌 He will cover you with His feathers and shelter you with His wings.
📌 You will not be afraid of the terrors of the night nor the arrow that flies in the day.
📌. Even when a thousand and ten thousand are dying around you, these evil will not touch you. The list is endless.

The Psalmist knew that his safety is secured in Christ, he said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear evil.” Beloved, why not come into God’s shelter where your safety is guaranteed? Be assured of maximum protection throughout this New year and ever

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Our safety is guaranteed when we abode in Him.

PRAYER:
O Lord, help me to always abide in Your shelter.

HAVE YOU TRIED ” FORGIVENESS”❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 13 January 2020

Text :
Matthew 7:7 – 12

Topic :
HAVE YOU TRIED “FORGIVENESS”❓

Memory verse:
Matthew 7:7

Message :
Without mincing words, the scriptures are clear about God’s willingness and readiness to attend to our prayers. Our text shows that those who earnestly seek God in prayers should be assured of answers to their requests. But our various experiences appear to be suggesting otherwise. Very often we pray and there are no answers; we fast and yet the results are delayed and we are worried.

Our lesson today is on the place of forgiveness in securing answers to our prayers. It is hereby made clear that part of what could cause delays to the answers to our prayers is unforgiveness. When we hold on to bitterness, grudges, malice and past hurt, the liberty of our spirits are restrained and their capacity to receive answers are blocked. A writer says: “Unforgiveness is a poison that shrivels the heart. It means a person cannot truly live in the present as they’re always thinking about the past.”

Is there an area of your life that you need God’s help in? A lot of times, it is easy to think that we are not supposed to ask for too much, but the scripture encourages us to go to God with all our needs. He longs to give you the desires of your heart and pour out His favour and blessing on you. In fact, the Apostle James said, “You have not because you do not ask” (James 4:2).

And as you pray, please check if there is any Unforgiveness that is blocking your prayers and affecting your relationship with God. The other person may have been wrong, they may have hurt you deeply, but there is nothing on this earth that is worth losing your peace with the Almighty God for. Today, when you pray, choose forgiveness and don’t let anything stand in the way of the good things God has in store for your future.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
When answers to prayers are delayed, try forgiveness.

PRAYER:
Today, in the name of Jesus Christ, I will have my needs met through the power of prayer and forgiveness, Amen.

DO YOU KNOW! GOD VALUES YOU ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text :
Psalm 17:1 – 15

Topic :
DO YOU KNOW! GOD VALUES YOU❓

Memory verse:
Psalm 17: 8

Message :
God loves and values you so much today. You are the apple of His eyes; you are His most prized possession. In this day and age, people are considered to be important for so many different reasons, titles, positions, possessions, where you go, what you drive. But God’s value system is very different from the value systems of the world. If you have ever thought that God has too many other important things on His plate to be concerned with than you and your life, you are wrong. Know this today, you are God’s biggest deal. And there is nothing you can do to be more important or less important. God values you today simply because He made you, and your value will never change.

You are significant, your life is significant. The things that concern God. He carefully watches over every detail of your life, and there is nothing too big or small for His attention. You are not inconveniencing God by asking for help in your everyday life. God wants to be good to you. He wants to show you His favour in new ways. He’s saying today, ” I dare you to ask.”

So, go ahead and place a demand on the universe in His name. You will be surprised by His response.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
God is more mindful of us than we can ever imagine.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You for loving me and for making me the apple of Your eye. Amen.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER NOW ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
1 Cor. 15:12-19; Eccl.2:4-11

TOPIC:
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER NOW❓

Memory Verse:
1 Corinthians 15:19

MESSAGES:
This is a generation when some people have painted Christianity as if it’s just a way of getting quick money and solving all the problems of this life. On the contrary, some genuine Christians are still poor, childless and sometimes, get involved in mishaps.

The resurrection of Christ is the center of our race and hope. It gives a big comfort. If there is no life beyond here, then our faith is  meaningless. See how brief this life could be. See how sudden death could come. At the time you feel you have sacrificed. Suffered and made wealth, ready to enjoy life, you may just be suddenly cut off. It is comforting to know that we have another world in view. There is life in the afterlife. “Churchianity” or even any lifestyles that is not thinking and planning about eternity is miserable, it’s not just about here, think of the HEREAFTER.

The futility of this life is x-rayed in the Holy writ. Solomon who was very wealthy and the wisest even; he got all that his eyes and heart desired. He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. Probably, he tasted all kinds of women in shape, character, colour and beauty. He even tasted power but hear what he said, “it’s just but vanity”. If you think you will get satisfaction by mad pursuit and rush after the mundane things of this life, please consult Solomon who had tasted all of them. The ultimate is eternity in heaven. Being a citizen of the coming kingdom where neither death not sickness or want will ever harrass you is your greatest achievement in this life.

You can’t get it all here. In this life, rich men, presidents and doctors still fall sick and die. Jesus is the hope of glory. Are you careless about eternity? Repent and begin to think and plan towards eternity. This life is short and brief. The gateway to the life after here is a good relationship with Jesus Christ, the giver of life. Do not take risk of caring less about life after here. The best preparation for tomorrow is to do your best today.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Life without consideration of eternity is miserable.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me not to be carried away by this life alone that I forget the issues of eternity.

WHOSE FOOTSTEPS ARE YOU FOLLOWING ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday 10th January 2020

Text:
2 Chronicles 17:1-10, 24:27-33.

TOPIC:
WHOSE FOOTSTEPS ARE YOU FOLLOWING❓

Memory Verse:
2Chronicles 17:3

MESSAGES:
From our text, Jehoshaphat walked with the Lord early in his life. He followed the footprints of his father who served God with all his heart. He refused to worship or consult Baals. He strictly abided in the commandments of God rather than to practice what the people of Israel often and easily fell victim to.

Fathers, what legacy are you leaving for your children. How to worship idols, womanise, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes/weed and cheat others, engage in illegal business, occultism, fight, quarrel and wife battering? Be reminded that they are keenly observing your steps and things you practice. The Bible tells us that David led Jehoshaphat his son in the knowledge and fear of God. Lead your children on the path of righteousness for it pays great dividends.

Jehoshaphat remembered to take to the lifestyle of his father who honoured God. He cleaned up Israel from strange gods, worship of idols and introduced the teaching of the word of God in the whole land of Judah and Jerusalem. His life was loaded with unquantifiable blessings including peace from surrounding enemy countries. The Lord established the kingdom under his control, and all Judah brought gifts to him, so that he had great wealth and honour. What will your children remember you for⁉

As part of your New year resolution today let’s learn from Jehoshaphat and honour God in our lifetime. In order to enjoy the rich blessings of protection, peace and success from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob we should set good examples for our children and their generation.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you will learn things you never knew.

PRAYER:
Father, help me not to leave the ancient landmarks.

ARE YOU BELIEVING GOD ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Thursday 9th January, 2020

Text:
Genesis 1:1-4

Topic:
ARE YOU BELIEVING GOD❓

Memory Verse:
Genesis 1:1-12

Message:
Are you believing God for something today that seems impossible? We serve a great and mighty God, and He can create something out of nothing! GOD can make a way where there seems to be no way. He can create whatever is needed in your life.

Genesis tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. But before He spoke the world out of nothing, He can take the empty places in your life and create something beautiful, too. He can speak light into your darkest hour. He can take your formless dreams and give them shape. He can resurrect your dormant gifts and talents. He can make your crooked places straight!

Remember, you were created in the image of the Almighty God. There is power in your words and power when you are in agreement with Him. Only say what God says about your situation. Speak life to your broken dreams today. Stay with an attitude of faith and expectancy, and as you do, God will take you places that you have never dreamed of. He will make something beautiful out of every broken place in your life.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
God can take your formless dreams and give them shape.

PRAYER:
Father in heaven, I trust that You are willing and able to make a way where there seems to be no way in my life. Amen.

CAN YOU CONTROL YOUR PASSIONS ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 08 January 2020

Text :
Genesis 38:14-26

Topic :
CAN YOU CONTROL YOUR PASSIONS❓

Memory verse:
Genesis 38:26

Message :
Our devotional today is centered on the story of Judah and Tamar. This story is sandwiches in between the story of Joseph as a contrast to the possibilities that lie ahead of those who control their sexual passions and those who fail to do so. While Joseph, as we see in Genesis 39, maintained his sexual integrity and eventually become great, Judah failed to control his sex drive and lost a critical place in destiny.

Judah was Tamar’s father-in-law, as she was earlier married to his son named Er. However, rather maintain a holy father-in-law’s relationship with Tamar, Judah got Tamar impregnated. It is instructive to note that Judah acknowledged that there is no free sex and so he pledged to offer the young lady a young goat from his flock. Hence, he deposited his signet, bracelet and staff. And he eventually lost these three things as the lady disappeared after the act. Those three things represent the losses people suffer when they involve themselves in illicit sex: endorsement, wealth and authority. Do not let it happen to you this year.

Judah failed to watch his actions and this had dire consequences. A lot of people, including Christians, behave like this too. They failed to watch their actions. They take actions that clearly defy the scriptures, hurt other people and bring shame and sorrow to themselves and others. There is, therefore, need for us to always reconsider all actions before we take them. Let’s make up our minds to live by the standards of God’s word and we shall be blessed as we do.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
My actions must be good, as I mind and controls my PASSIONS

PRAYER:
May my actions bring glory to God and humanity. Amen.

ARE YOU STILL LIVING IN FEAR ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Tuesday 7 January 2020

Text :
Joel 2:18 – 21

Topic :
ARE YOU STILL LIVING IN FEAR❓

Memory verse:
Joel 2:21

Message :
God wants to do great things in your life! Notice this verse start out by saying “Fear not.” Fear is a barrier to the promise of God. The Bible says that whatever does not come from faith is sin, or is missing the mark. Don’t ever let fear be a factor in the choices you make in life. If you make choices because you are afraid of something, that fear will block the blessing of the Lord in that area. overcome fear by meditating on the promise of God’s love and goodness.

Perfect love casts out all fears. When you understand the love of God, you have nothing to fear. You know the Lord will do great things! Let that sink down into your spirit today. Meditate on this verse and declare it out loud every day. As you study God’s word, your faith will grow and fear will be gone from your life. You’ll know His love, and you will experience His goodness in every area of your life.

It is noteworthy that experts say that the more scared you feel, the scarier things will seem. So, accept God’s word that he “Hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim.1:7). Our text reveals God’s restoration agenda for His people. He exhorts Israel to let go their fears and start celebrating His acts of greatness. The Same promise is God’s word today, forfeit your fears. Thus says the Lord, “I will do great things for you”  You are free to say’ AMEN’ only if you believe it.
