ARE YOU STILL KEEPING SILIENT❓

Mark 10:46-52

TOPIC:
WHY ARE YOU STILL KEEPING SILIENT ❓

MEMORY VERSE:
Mark 10:47

Message:
Indeed, Bartimaeus was introduced to us in the Bible as a blind man but many miss the point that when his story closed he was no longer blind but had his sight restored by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. But that’s not even the point of today’s meditation. The point is – Bartimaeus was blind but that didn’t make him dumb. He was handicapped but not incapacitated.

Most of the times, people look down on anyone with a disability and easily write him off as incapable of accomplishing anything of note on earth. We easily forget that everybody has one form of handicap, disability or the other. Nobody has everything. So do not allow anybody to silence you and make you feel that nothing good can come out of you.

As for Bartimaeus, although he was blind, he had good hearing ears and a good talking mouth as well as a sound thinking head. In fact, his outcome shows that most times, it’s people you are smarter than that try to make you look dumb. Less discerning people tried to silence Bartimaeus but he was smart enough to know that the presence of Jesus in Jericho was a once- in-a-lifetime chance to solve his greatest problem in life. So, he refused to be silenced. Today, raise your voice to Jesus and refuse to be silenced!

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
Everybody is handicapped somehow but that doesn’t mean they can’t achieve things in life.

PRAYER:
Father Lord, give me the grace to trust you to achieve great things in this life despite the hindrances on my path in Jesus’ name. Amen.

WHAT TIME IS YOUR TIME ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 05 August 2020

TOPIC:
WHAT “TIME” IS YOUR TIME⁉

KEY VERSE:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Eccl. 3:1).

TEXT:
Matthew 7:7-11

MESSAGE:
Your blessing might not come if God’s timing is different than yours. God may want you to wait and grow in dependence on Him before He gives you something.

Take note of Psalm 18:30 which says “As for God, his way is perfect. All of the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection” (NLT). That means He knows when it is the right time for us to receive certain blessings and when it is not.

Writer said:
“A cosmic clock is ticking, it was established by God, not just for the vast movements of the universe but for every situation in your life. If you are frustrated by it, wondering why God is not rushing an answer to your earnest prayer, then feel at home. You’re part of a long list of people – biblical heroes included who have struggled with God’s timing.

If you are struggling with God’s timing, the standard counsel will be: “BE PATIENT”❕ Your answer will come.
The year have gone More than half: please be patient
You have projects at hand not yet completed: please be patient
All your mate are married except you: be patient.
All your mate are in Overseas doing well. please have little patience with God… Gods time is the best

But remember through prayers and supplication always make your Request known to God…

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
“Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you have in mind” (Ogechi Ka Nma).

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the right attitude to appreciate your timing.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Chronicles 21-22; Luke 9:1-17

WHY NOT CONTINUE IN THANKSGIVING ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
2 Samuel 6:14-23

TOPIC:
WHY NOT CONTINUE IN THANKSGIVING❓

MEMORY VERSE:
2Samuel 6:21

Message:
According to the Bible, King David’s first attempt at bringing the Ark to Jerusalem ended up tragically with the death of Uzzah because the process was wrong and Uzzah became the victim. God’s unexpected fury shattered the joy, praises and celebrations of David and his subjects and so he abandoned the Ark in the house of Obed-Edom. Upon hearing of the prosperity of Obed-Edom, David decided to bring the Ark again to Jerusalem, being careful to follow God’s methods of carrying it. This time the tempo of dancing, rejoicing and celebrations was higher than the first. What a wonderful man David was. He wouldn’t hold grudges against God for whatever reason, though he was annoyed at first that God killed Uzzah.

Have you been hurt so much that you wouldn’t feel like singing praises to God, preaching his word, paying tithes or rendering other services to God and humanity? Let us learn from David. Remember Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times…” Look at verse 8, another lovely verse “oh, taste and see that the Lord is good”.

Sadly, as David was dancing with all his might, reflecting on God’s benevolence towards him, one of his wives, Michal the daughter of Saul, despised him and spoke disdainfully that he was not behaving like a King. To Michal, a king shouldn’t dance and praise God with all his spirit, body, soul and material things. Michal’s kind of king should be stingy with thanksgiving to God but perhaps, generous and zealous in doing evil.

There are some Michals today even in the church. They are those who hate to listen to people’s testimonies about God’s goodness in their lives. They despise those who very genuinely celebrate the blessings of God in various ways. How many Pharisees celebrated with those who showed gratitude to God for the miracles which Jesus performed in their lives? Unarguably, the Pharisees and Michals abound today, even among the so called most holy clergy.

Michal became childless till she died, hers was only case of barrenness not cured in the Bible. Being an enemy of thanksgiving could attract divine judgement and so we must distance ourselves from it. If you cannot or will not praise and thank God because it may not be in your nature to do so, do not hinder other people from doing so.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
God deserves our thanksgiving.

PRAYER:
Lord, please help me not to be an enemy of praise, worship and Thanksgiving.

WHEN LAST DID YOU SHARE THE WORD ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Monday 3rd August, 2020

Text:
Matthew 28:17-26

Topic:
WHEN LAST DID YOU SHARE THE WORD❓

Memory verse:
Proverbs 11:30

Message:
When last did you find time to share the word with someone? Many believers today no longer find time to share the word of God with even their closest neighbours at home, in the market, and in schools. But this is the greatest commandment Jesus left for us as He went back to heaven. Sharing the good news of the death, resurrection and ascension of Lord Jesus Christ to save us from sin and reconcile us to God is the reason that believers remain on earth. Reaching out to the lost with this good news is of utmost importance to our Lord Jesus and should be so to every child of God. It is a command and not a plea, so everyone around us must hear the word.

You can begin from your immediate environment. You can win souls through your attitude, the way you compose yourself, your humility, your tolerance, your relationship with others, etc. In fact the total being of every child of God should preach Christ. This week as you step out the house to wherever you may be going share the word with every diligence; try to ensure that you live a life worthy of your message.

Ask God for the grace to launch out today, this New week, this month or even this year. Mission is the heart beat of God. Embark on a mission work if you can, evangelise your neighbourhood or just preach the word anywhere you find yourself. The Lord will richly bless you.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
Mission is the heartbeat of God, begin anyhow, anywhere.

PRAYER:
May you strengthen me, oh Lord, to preach the word to my generation.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR:
Psalm 63-65; Acts 22

WHO IS YOUR MENTOR ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday 01 August 2020

Text:
Proverbs 27:2-6

TOPIC:
WHO IS YOUR MENTOR❓

MEMORY VERSE:
Proverbs 27:6

Message:
Nothing stabilizes and grows faith and walk of a genuine child of God like being open to account for his or her actions to someone who can lovingly correct him or her. When it comes to the area of leadership, it is absolutely necessary to have someone to account to, a person that has earned your trust.
“YOUR MENTOR!”

There is a great wisdom in the saying that if you are a candidate for growth in life, you must have someone to refer to, someone who tells you the truth whether it is bitter or sweet, someone who will frown when others are hypocritically clapping for you. Veteran devotion writer, Bob Gass wrote: “open your life to a few carefully selected friends who’ll tell you the truth; friends who’ve earned the right to examine you, question you, and counsel you”.

It is in the above context that Solomon wrote our study text for today. That is also what informed Paul’s advice to the Ephesians to keep “submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” (Eph. 5:21) and the Apostle James added, “confess your faults one to another and pray one for another, that ye may be healed” (James 5:16). Peter was corrected by Paul. Joshua was instructed by Moses. Elisha was tested by Elijah. Are you greater than they? Yet, pride will not permit many to accept this wisdom. Resist that pride!

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:
Your best friend may not necessarily be your best cheerleader.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help me to love the truth and connect me to genuine friends who will tell me the truths that I need to make progress in life. Amen.
