CAN YOU CONTROL YOUR PASSIONS ❓

CAN YOU CONTROL YOUR PASSIONS❓

Memory verse:
Genesis 38:26

Message :
Our devotional today is centered on the story of Judah and Tamar. This story is sandwiches in between the story of Joseph as a contrast to the possibilities that lie ahead of those who control their sexual passions and those who fail to do so. While Joseph, as we see in Genesis 39, maintained his sexual integrity and eventually become great, Judah failed to control his sex drive and lost a critical place in destiny.

Judah was Tamar’s father-in-law, as she was earlier married to his son named Er. However, rather maintain a holy father-in-law’s relationship with Tamar, Judah got Tamar impregnated. It is instructive to note that Judah acknowledged that there is no free sex and so he pledged to offer the young lady a young goat from his flock. Hence, he deposited his signet, bracelet and staff. And he eventually lost these three things as the lady disappeared after the act. Those three things represent the losses people suffer when they involve themselves in illicit sex: endorsement, wealth and authority. Do not let it happen to you this year.

Judah failed to watch his actions and this had dire consequences. A lot of people, including Christians, behave like this too. They failed to watch their actions. They take actions that clearly defy the scriptures, hurt other people and bring shame and sorrow to themselves and others. There is, therefore, need for us to always reconsider all actions before we take them. Let’s make up our minds to live by the standards of God’s word and we shall be blessed as we do.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
My actions must be good, as I mind and controls my PASSIONS

PRAYER:
May my actions bring glory to God and humanity. Amen.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR :
Genesis 10-12; Romans 4

ARE YOU STILL LIVING IN FEAR ❓

ARE YOU STILL LIVING IN FEAR❓

Memory verse:
Joel 2:21

Message :
God wants to do great things in your life! Notice this verse start out by saying “Fear not.” Fear is a barrier to the promise of God. The Bible says that whatever does not come from faith is sin, or is missing the mark. Don’t ever let fear be a factor in the choices you make in life. If you make choices because you are afraid of something, that fear will block the blessing of the Lord in that area. overcome fear by meditating on the promise of God’s love and goodness.

Perfect love casts out all fears. When you understand the love of God, you have nothing to fear. You know the Lord will do great things! Let that sink down into your spirit today. Meditate on this verse and declare it out loud every day. As you study God’s word, your faith will grow and fear will be gone from your life. You’ll know His love, and you will experience His goodness in every area of your life.

It is noteworthy that experts say that the more scared you feel, the scarier things will seem. So, accept God’s word that he “Hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim.1:7). Our text reveals God’s restoration agenda for His people. He exhorts Israel to let go their fears and start celebrating His acts of greatness. The Same promise is God’s word today, forfeit your fears. Thus says the Lord, “I will do great things for you”  You are free to say’ AMEN’ only if you believe it.

DO YOU KNOW THE REASONS FOR YOUR SITUATION❓

DO YOU KNOW THE REASONS FOR YOUR SITUATION❓

Memory verse:
Daniel 2:21

Message :
Oftentimes, God creates or manipulates opportunities in order to take us to higher levels. He wants us to grow and increase in every area of  life. Changes is often a catalyst for growth in our lives. It keeps us from getting stuck in a rut. God will supernaturally open and close doors to keep us on the path toward our destiny. He will “stir us” out of comfortable situations and stretch us because He loves us too much to allow us to live in mediocrity. You may be in a perfectly fine situation for years, but just as He opened that door, all of a sudden, He closes it. Nothing happens by accident.

You will notice here that Daniel and his brothers faced a death-threatening situation. But as they sought the mercies of God, it turned out to be their opportunity  for promotion. So in every situation, it is up to us to discover God’s next level agenda and yield ourselves to go through the demands.

Incidentally, such moment often come in disguise and that is why we need the leading of the Holy spirit. That means if a friend does you wrong, if you go through a setback, if you lose someone, or if your workplace changes, you can either embrace that change and God will use it to take you higher, or you can resist it and end up becoming stagnant and setting for mediocrity. Stay open for change. It may be negative on the surface but remember that God would not allow it if He didn’t have a purpose for it. If you will embrace that change, the winds that you thought would defeat you will actually push you to your divine destiny. See every difficult situation as a opportunity for a testimony

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
Nothing happens by accident. God is directing your steps.

PRAYER:
Dear God, I open my Heart and Mind to receive to all that You have for me. I trust that You are with me, directing my every step. Amen

DOES YOUR PAST REALLY MATTER ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Sunday 5 January 2020

Text :
John 4:15-24

Topic :
DOES YOUR PAST REALLY MATTER❓

Memory verse:
John 4:24

Message :
When a driver is driving a vehicle, he must concentrate fully on the road and it’s environs. Any distraction can result in an accident which at times can be fatal. The driver is not expected to keep looking back at the road he has already driven. He is not expected to dwell in his past, if not he will face the dire consequences of his unwise actions.

Unfortunately, a lot people dwell more in their past, and not in the present, let alone the future. They are still tied to their past failures, past mistakes, past regrets, past events. When Jesus was dealing with the Samaritan woman, He was not looking at her past. He was more interested in the present and future. Her past did not matter, because the Lord saw her as a vessel worthy of use to evangelize the city of Samaria.

Friend, stop dwelling in your past. Embrace the glorious future that God has made available for you. Let the words of Jesus sink deep into your heart. And let it produce the change that will draw others to Christ. Receive the grace to leave leave your ugly past and step into an uncommon future in Jesus’ name, Amen.

N/B. Past is Past, and Gone is Gone sang by a psalmist

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
To live in the past is to abandon the future.

PRAYER:
I receive the grace to move away from my past, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

HOW DEVOTED ARE YOU ❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

James 4:6-10

Topic :
HOW DEVOTED ARE YOU❓

Memory Verse :
Romans 12:1

Message :
Being alive is an opportunity for devotions to God. And until we understand that the purpose of our existence is tied to the worship of God we may end up wasting the privileges of life. No matter what our present circumstances are, God’s ultimate desire is that we grow in friendship with Him. Even as the attractions of this life drive us towards the pursuit of mundane things, we are warned that “Friendship with the world is enemity with God”.

If you desire to live a hypothetical free life, have God’s life in you and serve Him with all your heart, soul and strength, you must first be surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Our text says, draw near to God for He only can help us serve Him with absolute devotion. This also demands submission and absolutely surrendered to the Almighty. As we yield to Him, our sins are washed away and we are able to resist the devil and all his tricks and pressures. Then we can devote our lives to Him.

As you read this passage, what is the degree of your devotion to the Lord? Is your body a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God? Be encouraged to devote more of your time and life to him today as never before. Most interestingly, there is available grace to all who will humbly seek for the power to be devoted to God. And this grace is the type that lifts one up in due seasons. Please lay your life on the altar and once more pledge your devotions to Him.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS :
A life devoted to the worship of God is a life destined for greatness.

PRAYER :
Oh Lord, give me the grace to worship You in humility and total surrender. Amen.
