CAN YOU FOLLOW GOD’S DIRECTIVES❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Text:
Genesis 26:1-14

TOPIC:
CAN YOU FOLLOW GOD’S DIRECTIVES❓

Memory Verse:
Proverbs 3:5

MESSAGE:
If you want things to go away for you, exclude God in your affairs. If you want your plans and endeavors to hit bricks, reply solely on your initiative without God. If you lean totally on your own understanding, philosophy and logic, you will sooner than later meet a cul-de-sac. For, no one can ever make it in life except the Lord approves of it.

Genesis 26 relates the second account of famine in the scripture. This famine occurred during the days of Isaac. And, as every responsible father and husband would do, Isaac chose to head down to Egypt, a place famine did not affect. Perhaps, he recalled that his father- Abraham, travelled to Egypt with the entire family and survived the first occurrence of famine. Maybe, he saw others fleeing to Egypt and decided to join them.

As he prepared to leave, God appeared to him and advised against the movement. The Lord, instead, instructed him to go a different direction and sojourn there for blessings. Isaac obeyed the directive of God and became a hundred times blessed in the end.

The Lord is telling you this morning to trust, follow and rely fully on His directive. He knows more than you can ever know. He sees more than you can ever see. He understands more than you can ever comprehend. Do it God’s way, not your own way.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
No one can ever make it in life except the Lord approves of it.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to trust, follow and rely fully on Your directive everyday of my life.

IS IT BY YOUR POWER❓OR BY YOUR MIGHT❓

DOUBLE DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Wednesday 01July 2019

Text:
ZECH. 4:1-7

TOPIC:
IS IT BY YOUR POWER❓OR BY YOUR MIGHT❓

KEY VERSE:
Zech. 4:6

MESSAGE:.
The word “might” suggests “force” or “power”. God’s work is completely by the Holy Spirit anointing. Though this does not suggest that we are to be passive. In other words,

📌God is not looking for ready- made instruments, but raw materials to refine.
📌God is not looking for important personalities rather He is looking for ordinary vessels He would empower for service (Act 1:8)
📌God is not looking for the qualified, but is looking for willing vessels to equip for extraordinary ministry like, men of old.
📌God is not looking for the wise of this world, instead, He is looking for those considered foolish in the eye of the world to confound the so – called wise men (1 Cor. 1:20)

Moses was not vast in speech, but he became vast in personal experience following his encounter with God. He saw God’s glory (Ex. 32). Joshua was unpopular until he was empowered by the Spirit of God (Deut. 34:9) Gideon was the least in his family, but God used him to deliver Israel from Midianites’ oppression (Judges 6:16). Jeremiah considered himself a child; yet the Lord put His word in his mouth (Jer.1:1-8). Peter was known as an unschooled fisherman, yet he became a lively instrument God used to bring salvation to thousands of souls (Act 4:3). He also wrote two Epistles that bear his name in the New Testament.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
The Holy Spirit makes the difference in the life and ministry of an individual.

PRAYER:
God, I need your backing in my life and in all my endavours from this 1st day of July 2019.

BIBLE READING FOR THE YEAR:
